I know. I know. Exactly. I know. I think this is the most time off we've taken in in four years. So, you know what? Sue us. Anyway, it's great to have Dean back. It's great to hear your voice, bud. We had an amazing time at Fan Expo. We got to meet, Kate Trevor Wilson, Michelle Mylett, Tyler Johnson, Evan Stern, Dylan Playfair, Andrew Herr, and, Nathan Dales. I mean, we met them all. Speaker 0

Yeah. They were all there except for, you know, Wayne. And it was great. They're like each each and every one of them were so nice and so generous with their time. I actually got two good chats in with them because I was there Friday and spoke to them then. And then when we all came the next day, we had we had great chats. And, Dylan Playfair, like, made our daughter's year by giving her giving her a signed picture of him as as, Gaston's son on on on Disney's Descendants, and she like, her eyes were, like, bugging out. She couldn't believe that he was talking to her and stuff. And, yeah, it was just what a crazy day and and, like, so so crowded and such a busy day. Like, I've been to one of those before, but it it wasn't that busy. Like, that was that kind of insane. It took us half an hour to get from one end of the, Speaker 5

Well, just to get from one from one room to another, it took so long because there's so many people. Speaker 0
Can can I add one quick comment though about the Playfair interaction? Mhmm. I was talking a bit before we started recording is that I was so impressed by that. I mean, I even said after, and I and I stand by that. That was my favorite moment of that entire day Speaker 3

Was Playfair and your and your girl there because the way he handle handle's not the right word. The way he interacted with her was so priceless. Her face and I even said, I'm like, this is what these events are all about. Speaker 2

Her face right there. She was just to the moon and back. Mhmm. And and he acted like we weren't even there, and I appreciated it appreciated him even more for it. Like, he just kinda like, everyone else, fuck off. Mhmm. And and just spoke to her. Mhmm. Let her have her moment. Sign the sign the photo for her, and and it made her absolute day. And and I was just, like, enthralled with how he did that and so impressed. So I just wanted to add that. It was a she's such a class actor. Speaker 6

me tell you, she so appreciated it too. Like, she she is she is so in love with that photo that he gave her. And the and the fact that he referenced it that, he's her pal Mhmm. She's like, are we friends now? Like, is is that it? Am I friends with him? And and she just did the, the she was just in the descendants, the theatrical play, because she's doing that for summer. And, so she was just she's beyond to the moon and back, and that photo has not left her side every single day. She makes sure that she she is the last thing she looks at every night. So Yeah. Yeah. And, last week, the reason we didn't record last week was because I was in Winnipeg, recording stories for Yes We Were Open for my work podcast. And let me, you know, say this. Every everyone I told that I was going to Winnipeg had the same kinda, like, response, like, oh, sorry. Winnipeg is a really nice city. I enjoyed my time Speaker 2
just maybe those people just don't like getting pegged. Speaker 3
Maybe. Well, I did have I did have somebody in at the airport who was from Winnipeg say that it can get a little stabby there. Apparently, Winnipeg has that that that reputation. Speaker 5
Well, there was there every time you called me, there was there was a siren going on Speaker 3
in the back. I gotta say, I don't know what it is about Winnipeg and dollars Dollaramas, they were everywhere. They were like Tim Hortons, one on every corner. But in terms of like, the city had good bones. It had great buildings. Some of them are just boarded. Like, it's just, you know You're Speaker 6
not selling it. Speaker 2

But the city itself was beautiful. Like, I went to the the blue the stadium that the Blue Bombers play out of, and, it's it it could be a an NFL stadium. If it isn't the best the nicest stadium in the CFL, I don't know what is. They've got a gorgeous, minor league baseball park, their hockey arena. The downtown Winnipeg downtown is a nice city, and the buildings, it moonlights a lot in movies and as New York and Chicago, and I can totally see it. The architecture, it's that old style architecture. It's just the economy, and it's got a bad rap. Like, I feel like they just The winter's out. Speaker 6

And I'm sure the winters are aren't great there either, but I feel like their problem is a marketing problem. I think if they had better PR and Speaker 2

Yeah. It was a river boat, and and it took us up and down the not the Red River. The I can't remember how to say it. It's it's a native native Canadian, word. Anyway, I loved it, and, I think it gets a bad rap. Granted, I haven't been there in the winter, but, you know, I hope that, they can turn things around because it's actually quite a nice city. Yeah. That was my time in Winnipeg. Tanya, how have you been in the last couple weeks? Speaker 5
I have been incredibly busy. So you were away, and I was just it was just, like, one one hour at a time just trying to get through everything, getting the kids ready for school. We then as soon as you got home, we ended up well, our our son was sick, after Fan Expo. He was sick, so I was dealing with that. And, then we were went to work. We started taking apart the backyard and and throwing, a shed out. We should have actually asked Matt if he wanted the shed first. No. But, yeah, we took the shed apart. Speaker 0

so we've just been so busy. And this week, the kids went back to school. Huzzah. Mhmm. So that's been, crazy because they are not on schedule, and it has been, a bit chaotic trying to get them back on schedule and, getting our timing back. Like, we talked about how busy it was. They definitely have not chosen the most efficient, facility to host the Toronto Fan Expo. But Speaker 2

It was it was a lot to take in. But, I mean, like I said, I just big part was just the crowd, but how they funnel them between the two buildings that they do in Toronto, it was is a nightmare. Like, they just they're yeah. I I I was sitting in the middle of what was borderline and unruly mob, because of how it was centered. But, anyways, it was a really cool experience. I'm glad I went. The people watching was top of the line, so I could do that every time just for that. Back to school is here, so that's fun. I got kids in three different schools right now. We got the, my oldest is just starting high school, middle guy's into and my dog's coming out, apparently. Hi, Moose. Yeah. Speaker 2

So it was a big week getting everyone to these various schools, but, everyone's off to a great start, so that was fun. I was back to Sherkeston. Oh, Labor Day weekend just passed where we went back to Sherkeston Shores, which I talked to about a couple weeks ago. Yeah. We had a last minute deal with, the same renter or the same owner that we rented from before, and, we didn't. Wasn't intended to be a lowball, but we're like, here's our budget if you want another renter for the weekend. And she ultimately said, you know what? Sure. You guys were great. Happy to have you back. So, we went and had a great weekend there. And, the only other big thing that's on the go is I am sort of in training ish. I should be doing more for Tough Mudder. Speaker 1

So I'm doing, next next Sunday, I'm taking part in a Tough Mudder event. And if anyone doesn't know, it's one of those, outdoor sort of agility Speaker 3

So we're going on Sunday, but would have loved to have seen her. The one I'm doing is fifteen it says fifteen plus kilometers, and over twenty obstacles. Yes. So we'll see how this goes. Luckily, there's no expectation of heading any reasonable time, so my goal is completion at best. Speaker 3

Anyways, it's fun. I've I've been running. Last three days, I I had three good runs back to back to back. Did some bit when I was in sharks and I I hit the wall not that there's swimming necessarily, but swimming is an awesome exercise. So I swam the quarry that they have there, which is about three hundred meters across. So I did there and back, two days in a row. Hadn't done that kinda distance in the water in a while, so it felt really good. Feeling good right now. I'm trying to get back into shape and looking forward to this event. So yeah. Speaker 3

It is. It's well, it's my editing desk. My booth is right there. So, yeah, I've really just been working on, voice stuff and going to acting classes. That's been my biggest focus right now. Working on a web series. I don't know if anybody already heard, but I'm working on a web series on YouTube called Crash. It's a it's a machinima, about this team of soldiers, halo characters, who are who are working on this base and weird things are afoot. But it's, it's it's comedy comedy with some drama in it. Great. Yeah. Having a lot of fun with that. Mhmm. Go to the Halo championship series with some of the actors, beginning of October, up in Seattle. So that's just a nice little drive for me. My first one, with my kids, Evan was probably, I don't know, I'm gonna say about six at the time, And huge fan of Adventure Time. And he was dressed as Finn and everything like that. And we got in John DiMaggio, the guy who does Jake the dog. Speaker 0

And so John is a big dude. Mhmm. And, Evan got And during the comm, we, we bought a calendar. He came with a Adventure Time DVD and one other thing. And we were trying to figure out in the line what what thing what one thing do you wanna have him sign because he's not gonna sign a whole bunch of stuff. So, he picked out his one thing, and we're walking up there. And finally, we get there, and Evan just freezes. Speaker 7

I will say right now, we are in an indefinite hiatus. I personally have lost interest in doing podcasting. I don't know if that's if it's just because I've been so busy with everything else. Mhmm. But it's a lot of work. And and and you guys are putting up tons of content that's awesome a lot of the time. And so I I not that I'm trying to compete or anything. Speaker 3

Yeah. And one of the things that's cool about it is because I've read the book and there's a character in there, he's, named Paulie, who, is so Jack Reacher is six foot five, two fifty pounds. Pauley is seven foot six and roided out. So that should be a very interested, interesting, how they put that together on the camera. Right. So so Yeah. But, yeah, I'm looking forward to that. So, yeah, that's the other I've been listening to it. I I've I've gotten into working out myself. Mhmm. Okay. Start I have a little treadmill here under my desk. I try to work walk forty five minutes a day. I've got weights upstairs. I've been doing dumbbells, you know, pre presses and plats and squats and everything with my dumbbells. I really don't have, enough room for, like, a full bench press thing. Speaker 3

Like and unprompted by me so for example, that clip that we just heard from Matt, AI called it parenting in the digital age, surprise phone check, which I think is like, I think it's hilarious. So and because nowhere in what like, in the story Matt, you know, Gates accounted for us, was there the surprise like, any of those words. Like, it kind of derived that from the the Speaker 0

I mean, not about being injured, but, you know, finding that identity and making the team and, you know, getting that getting back to their roots. And so I felt like you've kinda done this before, but now, you know, now you've actually been winning. Speaker 3

And that they yeah. They've lost it because they've they've got they've gotten so used to it. So I think they're they have really great writers. I know this. And I I think I think for this one, hitting it out of the park was not quite there for me. Okay. It got it definitely got into the outfield. Speaker 3
It's all good. What did you think of, you know, how they kinda skipped all the playoffs, just kinda gave us that one scene, the slow mo scene of them losing in their own barn, and then Yeah. And then we're we start the national senior tournament right away. Speaker 2
Yeah. And that's, that's kinda something they've done before. You know, they they'll they'll gloss over those things. I mean, that's Letterkenny Mhmm. And Shorces. So this is that's a common that's a common Letterkenny universe trope. Sure. So, so I wasn't surprised about that. I agree with Victor. If they had gone directly from the end of the regular season to the playoffs, that would have really killed the pacing because it isn't about the playoffs. It's about the national championship. That is how they raise the stakes. And, also, Pete, when have they done their search for identity before in like, Speaker 2

of them were searching for their identity, though. That that was Speaker 3

So I guess that's the that's the nuance is the you go from nothing to something, and here you go from something to losing it and then having to find it again. Speaker 1

You know, Shorzy is trying to figure his shit out, and he's captain, so they follow him. Yeah. And because he loses his identity, they're kinda losing theirs. So that's how I see it. And and because he found their identity in season one, they they followed along. They they ended up because of him having that identity. So it's kind of they're reverting back, because I don't know if it's because, you know, they're they're used to winning now, and maybe taking things too lightly. I don't know. But Speaker 3
It all happened so quick, though. Like, because it's Exactly. Exactly. It feels like there should be, like, three or four seasons, but it's actually still the same season as that first episode. Just now it's the the tournament, the post playoff tournament. Speaker 6
The the other the other thing about what's interesting that it's, like, they're making about the identity, but they're also, like you know, this kind of the part of it that makes it more like a cartoon is they're all terribly injured. Right? Yeah. So, yes, you can say they're losing their identity, but they're all playing, like, with, you know, twenty percent of themselves except for, JJ, and he, you know, he's heartbroken. so JJ only ever plays with twenty percent effort in anything, and that's actually part of a thesis I have that I wanna discuss later. Speaker 6

I think, we all kind of appreciated how annoyed Sanguinet was getting with the way the team was basically emotionally folding and and making up excuses and stuff and, him storming out of the room. And it was it was an interesting look for him, you know, considering where he started, being kind of that meek, timid player growing into the coach and now being the the leader that he was in this season. Dean, if you were to reward a game stick, who would it be? Speaker 2
I don't disagree with that. Sanger's become basically the heart of the team. He's he's kind of picked up the reins that Shorzey's dropped. Mhmm. So I think he know he knows the team. He has a good idea of what he wants to do with the team. You know, he makes mistakes, but so does everybody. I don't, but he, like and he definitely doesn't want Shorzy hurt. So he's got heart. Yeah. So I think that, he is like like I said, he's really the heart of the team. Mhmm. It keeps them together. He, you know, he he's learned from Shorzy on how to handle the team Yeah. I enjoyed it. Seeing seeing Shorzy, you know, having to step back and and reevaluate, I thought that piece of the storyline, I don't know, I know it's not fun, but it's intriguing, it's interesting. Yeah. The, you know, it builds conflict, which, you know, I think when you're telling a story you gotta have, it raises the stakes, you know? So it's that I I I give this afresh. I, you know, I think it was well written. It really, I think, represented the heart of the show, the how how you know, what it's about. You know? This is about more than just one person. Yeah. There were a lot of great scenes in it, especially between Shorzi and Nat. I think a lot of the issue, I know with Tobias and with myself too, was just the way that the first part of that was edited together. It didn't make a whole lot of sense because the way I I I like the tone it was trying to make set. But the way the previous episode ended, it kind of erased all that by having Shorzy back in the locker room fully conscious and and contemplating going back into the game. He'd just been knocked out, had his jersey cut off. You know what I mean? Like, he should've gone in the hospital.
