Speaker 0
The Bulldogs give back webinars and seminars, but the first game's here. The Charlottetown reds, so nice, and they brought seafood. Damn, gorgeous. Talking nutrition with kids in the youth league, but thoughts turn to who's next. Speaker 1
That fresh produce stand there, that's a beauty. Speaker 2
What do you listen to? Speaker 3
My favorite murder podcast. Taggart and Jordan's podcast. Speaker 1
The produce stand. Speaker 5
Met the you heard the man. It is the produce stand, your favorite source for everything in that universe. I'm all your host, Tanya, Matt, and Victor on the mics tonight. We're talking some Shorzy season three. And just like Dola, we're feeling blessed tonight to introduce tonight's guest panelist. Born and raised in Liverpool, New York and then spent twenty plus years in Richmond, Virginia before ending up in Malvern, Pennsylvania, he manages an ecommerce platform for an electrical and industrial supply company. He's a die hard Buffalo Bills fan, a Grateful Dead fan, big beer nerd slash geek food lover, and also or always looking for live music. Please welcome PJ. Speaker 1
Who wants to set the tone, boys? He's gonna fucking set it. Speaker 1
This team will never lose again. Speaker 5
What's going on? Speaker 7
Nothing. Thanks for the introduction. Speaker 5
Sorry. I I tripped through that. Should've read it a few more times. Speaker 5
Welcome to the protestant, PJ. Speaker 7
Appreciate it. Thank you for for including me. I hope to hold up my end of the bargain here. Speaker 5
I'm sure you will. I mean, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. I feel like I've seen your name, on the you know, around Twitter and and around the podcast and on our Patreon now for a long time. So standard questions, you know, first of all, where are you speaking to us from? Speaker 7
Melbourne, Pennsylvania, about twenty miles west of Philadelphia. Speaker 7
So I'm in suburbs of other what they call the mainline. Speaker 5
Alright. And, I'm assuming that you got into Letterkenny first, since, I feel like I've seen your name for a few years. When did you discover Letterkenny? Speaker 7
It may have been during COVID, or towards the end of COVID. I don't I don't remember the timing, but I came across it because I know I was binging, corner gas, and, you know, that's just kinda really, peaked my interest with this, you know, this crazy Canadian style of humor that I just wasn't familiar with. And so I got into Letterkenny, and I just couldn't believe that I'd never heard of this and that it wasn't as more popular as it was. And, you know, I I started getting into that, and then I just needed to hear more and figure out if I was missing stuff. So I searched, you know, podcast for recaps, and I came across you guys. And now it's part of my routine. I I I watched, yeah, I watch each episode, individually, and I don't move on until I hear the, the podcast, you know, the produce stand podcast. So I don't jump ahead. So I just like I watch an episode, and then I wait for your, podcast to come out. So I know if I miss something and need to pay more attention. Speaker 5
Amazing. That's great. So thank you so much for joining us tonight. Like I said, I've seen your name so so long, so now it's it's great to finally meet you. Speaker 0
Let's I'm remembering it now too. I'm like, I I looked at I'm like, oh, yeah. I've been we've been bouncing at Sure. We've chirped a bit on on Twitter there. Speaker 7
But Oh, absolutely. Speaker 0
Absolutely. It's all coming back to me now. That's right. Speaker 7
I'm one of the ones that that likes to come to to to to play in Victor's court because I I I seem to align with him a lot more, and, I I I have to to to be team Victor when when it's when it's required. Speaker 5
Do you share Victor's views on grunge and stuff like that? Speaker 7
I'm a deadhead. So probably Right. Speaker 8
What about the fish? Where do you where do you, stand on the on the fish? Speaker 7
I've never seen them. I want to. Oh. I I I'm trying to learn them. I saw fit I I saw Trey, when he played the, Jerry role at, the Fairly Well concerts in two thousand and fifteen in Chicago. I think he's an amazing guitarist. I like their music. They're a little out there for me, the Phish fans, Speaker 5
the music. You know, they Speaker 7
I like it, but I think I'll go see him once and be happy. Speaker 5
Amazing. Well, let's, oh, here we go. Let's, get this rig rolling. Speaker 5
Yeah. Tonight's, starting lineup. Victor, Tanya, Matt, Al sorry. Victor, Tanya, Al, Matt, and then PJ, our guest will have the last word. Victor, how have you been, bud? Speaker 3
I've been good. Man, so much to unpack here from from PJ. My goodness. First of all, cheers. Second of all, my condolences regarding the bills. And and history. Buffalo, you know, is is kind of the only town from a hockey perspective that makes the Leaf fans feel better about themselves. So so so there's that. I mean, you're not from Buffalo, but, for some reason, you like the Bills. My parents Speaker 7
both born and raised in Buffalo. Speaker 3
Oh, okay. Well, there you go. Speaker 3
That makes more sense. What else is going on? Let's see. We've got a couple of new squirrels. We we get a rotation going, so we have now Bill and Ted visiting us. So they inspired me to write a new song. It's called, Woodland Creatures. So I'll be, I'll I'll I'll I'll do a little recording and post it for for the gang, when I get some time. And we've, been watching some new shows. So we watched went through the new season of, the door prize. I think that's what it's called. So for those that watch season one, season two is still more of the same, but except I think it's probably better. Does leave you on a bit of a cliffhanger at the end. We also watched platonic with Seth Rogen. Oh, is that? And it's pretty good. We actually were surprised, and it it was we liked it a lot, but we weren't so crazy about the ending. No spoilers. And now we're watching Dark Matter, which is, I really like it so far. It's a little bit reminiscent of the show counterpoint, Counterpart from a few years ago, for those that remember, but, it's it's pretty good. It's about, you know, multi multiple universes get created with your decisions, and, basically, there's infinite universes and all that kind of stuff. So, it's about this guy that comes that is not happy with the decision he made, so he's going in through into a different universe to try and replace the new version of him with the old version of him to correct the mistake he made. That's all I know so far, and that's all I'll say so far. But it's very interesting. Okay. So, yeah, that's, that's all my updates for now. Speaker 8
And you're rocking a beard. Speaker 5
Yeah. You're unshaven. What's going on there? Speaker 3
Yeah. Well, you know what? We we had a long weekend. Speaker 8
So That's that's after a weekend, dude? Speaker 3
We had a long weekend. We've got all of our American friends are off all week this week, so it's kind of a bit of a slower week, and, I'm just, you know, chilling. Speaker 8
Yeah. You're looking you're looking adventurous. You're looking looking good looking good on you. My week. So we watched the first episode of The Bear, and that was interesting. We actually had to pause it halfway through and go, wait. What happened last season? And we had to go I did Speaker 8
I think we caught, like, twenty minutes in or seventeen minutes in or so, and then we're just like, okay. We obviously, do not remember what the hell is happening at this moment. So we went back, watched the last half of the last season, and then came back Speaker 5
from the end. The the first episode of season three is very kind of flashback y and forward y and all over the it's all over the place. Speaker 5
it could have used they could have used that previously on the bear. Speaker 8
Yeah. That would've been helpful. That would've been really helpful. But, yeah, looking forward to, getting into that and, and and watching more of it, hopefully, along the weekend. We had our cousins over this weekend. It was the weekend of family of five came and landed on us. We had a fantastic time. We did the drive in, which was the first time for, the little the family that was visiting. First time them going to an a drive in. So that was a lot of fun, and we, we we thought we would be adventurous and have the back hatch open and just kind of, you know, feel the like, we were outdoors one with the movie, which was a terrible idea, because the mosquitoes were one with us. And, they just were on the attack, like, terrible. It was at one point, I was laying down in the back of the van, and, I hear, one of the little ones say, auntie Tanya, you have a big a big spider on your bum. And I'm like, oh my god. It was, yeah, it was crazy. Anyways Speaker 5
Patch closed. Yeah. Ryan turned around. Oh, Speaker 9
Rest of it well. Speaker 8
Yeah. We handled that really well. Yeah. So that was a lot of fun. But the so the big thing is the big, big news my week. So the weekend consisted of the cousins coming over, and a lot of sports were on the TV. More sports than Speaker 0
we have ever been. Speaker 8
I'm gonna talk about it now. Okay. I'm just ripping the Band Aid. Alright. So, anyways, there was a lot of sports on TV. Speaker 5
We're watching a lot of the Euro Cup. Speaker 8
Twenty four seven. If it wasn't soccer, it was baseball. If it wasn't baseball, it was highlights. It was, like, it was constant sports, and that is not the norm in the house. And so every time I, like, was somewhat paying attention, all I kept on hearing was this whole four to six. Like, I am telling you, it was it was to the point where I was like, are you kidding me? Like, is everyone four to six? And then I finally got it. It was like this moment where it was like, oh, that's why it was funny. And so now I I feel like I have to take back what I said last week because the whole four to six skit, which I wasn't quite getting what it was. I'm like, this is it was like the pace was slowing down. It was like the whole thing, like, you do your walk in four to six this and four to six that. And I wasn't getting it, folks. So, anyways, I I feel like I need to, send my apologies. I didn't get it. I get it now. And everyone is four to six. I swear to God, the whole weekend. Though I'm surprised anyone's playing sports right now. Speaker 5
your foot. You're the four to sixtieth. Speaker 8
I'm the four to sixtieth. Yeah. Sixtieth? Anyways, I get it. I get it. I get it. So very fun. Speaker 9
Alright. There you go. Speaker 5
You don't wanna talk about the movies we watched at the drive in Inside Out? Speaker 8
We want yeah. We did. We watched Inside Out two. Yeah. And that was fantastic. Yeah. It Speaker 5
was very well done. It was great Speaker 8
for you. The girl has anxiety. Puberty hits, and anxiety is a new character and emotion and and feeling that she has. And, that was fantastic because, my anxiety, runs the control panel way too much. So it's it's nice to have a visual on what is happening, even if it's cartoon land. They did it really, really well. It it really, really was was exceptional. Speaker 5
And then I think we watched the first three quarters of If before the kids started, like Speaker 8
Yeah. That's when the spider asleep so less. Speaker 5
Yeah. It's it's it's it's fun. Speaker 8
That's when the spider came, and that's when we had to move the car around. So we lost focus on what was happening, and then it was just like, okay. You know what? It's it's almost twelve thirty. Let's just cut it. So, anyways, yeah. That one will have to have a redo. Speaker 5
Yeah. Robbie on the livestream. So anxiety and the bear in the same week. Man. Speaker 0
That was Tobias. Speaker 8
I was Is that Tobias? Speaker 5
Oh, it is Tobias. Sorry. I thought it was Robbie first. Speaker 8
And is it me? Is it just me, but the bear, that first one, I the music was making me uncomfortable. I don't know whether I was already uncomfortable and and but it was just like something was like the it was a hinge on something bad was gonna happen. It just, like, the music just kept on keeping me in that, like, anxiety kind of and and you said it was relaxing, so I don't know. Speaker 5
I thought it was Speaker 3
relaxing. We got Speaker 8
yin and yang on that one. Speaker 5
Yeah. Canada Day weekend this weekend for us. Had a good time with the family and, talked about the drive in, The Bear season three. We've only we only got to the first episode. But also it's and I I said this on on the Discord. It's nice to have neighbors with the pool and a cottage because Speaker 5
They were off at the cottage, and we got to use the pool. And, we spent we spent Saturday afternoon swimming, and Tanya was actually able to get some therapy done on her foot in the pool. And I really think it's made a huge difference because she's been walking a lot better since. So I'm Speaker 8
just gonna sneak in their backyard every day and go go for a walk in the pool. Speaker 5
But, yeah, other than that, my week's been pretty standard, pretty normal. Some movies I did get to see. I I the founder on on Netflix. I know it's not a new movie, but it's a Michael Keaton movie about Speaker 5
McDonald's founder. I I really enjoyed it up until the end. I thought the end was kinda, you know, whatever. I mean, you know, if you're cheering for capitalism, then the the good guy won at the end. It's, but, yeah, over overall, I really enjoyed the story. You know, I don't know how true, like, to real life it it stay it stuck, but, it was a very cool story. Yeah. And we've been watching a lot of the Eurocup. Although today, my team Portugal got eliminated by France. Damn you, France. But so that means we won't be watching as much sports at home anymore, hon. We would be happy to know. Yeah. So that's about it. I don't have any other kind of updates that I can think of. Matt, how about you? Speaker 0
My weekend. I had a great weekend. Speaker 0
It was the long weekend. We took a couple extra days, so we took the Friday and the Tuesday to give us that five day, little buffer there. Started off kind of funny. We went we we pulled so I didn't have my older guys. I read their moms for the weekend, but we took the my youngest to Wonderland, our theme park here in Toronto, Friday during the day, which is all just kiddie rides for him. So Jen and I bought ourselves they have this, food program there. So you can buy, like, a single day, all you can eat food plan. Speaker 0
At Wonderland. Yeah. And how it works is, you can get a meal every ninety minutes. Speaker 0
Yeah. And they've got some decent food for a theme park. I mean, it's, like, I think it's forty bucks for this thing, but we bought one of them. So the first restaurant opened at eleven, so we got something Did the kids Speaker 5
take turns having meals? Speaker 0
Yeah. Well, Kaden wouldn't eat any. Like, my little guy doesn't eat any of that shit. He's like, give me a PB and J sandwich and call it a day. That's all he wants. So we they had, like, this beef brisket that we had, this, smoked chicken, all this other stuff. So we basically timed it. We're like, we gotta stay for at least four and a half hours. So we got one at eleven, exactly twelve thirty on the dot, exactly two o'clock on the dot. Like, we got our Speaker 5
made the most. He made the most. Speaker 0
And then we left and went to Rib Fest because we're. Speaker 5
Awesome. I love it. Speaker 3
So when when when it was your time to get your meal, could you order as much as you want? Speaker 0
No. No. You get one meal. So it like, it's, like, usually, like, a protein and then a couple sides. Speaker 3
So they tell you, like, it's, like, from a some set menu or something? Speaker 0
Well, it's almost anywhere in the park you can go, anywhere that serves meals. So you can go to, like, the place that does chicken fingers and fries, or you can go to the smokehouse that does brisket. Speaker 3
can only select one item from the menu. One meal. Speaker 0
One one meal item. Yes. Speaker 3
Okay. Alright. I have my thoughts about this all you can eat. I feel like that's that that whole title is a misnomer unless you're Yeah. Speaker 0
saying all you can eat. It's a it's a single day meal pass is what it is. But every every ninety minutes Speaker 3
I I would I would have some thoughts about it, and I probably, would like to to speak to the manager. But, anyway Speaker 5
And you would probably get your way too. So Speaker 0
So then, yeah, we crushed some rib fast after that because we hadn't had enough food that Speaker 3
Oh, is that all you can eat ribs at Montana's? Speaker 0
No. That was that was rib fest at Centennial Park for Canada Day weekend. Speaker 3
By the way, Al, did you sample that song yet that I told you about? This is Kiso's favorite song. Speaker 3
What what what Do you know the song I'm talking about? Speaker 5
What's the song? Speaker 3
Try the ribs. Try the ribs. Speaker 0
You got an Italian voice. Speaker 5
And this is Kiso's favorite song? Speaker 5
How do you fit here? Speaker 5
He said try the ribs is his favorite song? Speaker 3
Yeah. Yeah. He said try the ribs is my favorite song. It's stuck in my head, and I can't get rid of it. Speaker 5
It. Okay. I'll I'll I'll check it out. I'll Speaker 5
Try the ribs. That's everyone's homework for for this week Speaker 5
To try the ribs. Speaker 0
So ribs and then we went away for a couple days. We last second, our plans to call in would kinda got screwed up, so we found an Airbnb. We rented a trailer for a couple days out near Coburg. Speaker 0
Turned out to be a blast. We've we enjoyed it so much. They small park, whatever. But we took the dog, and we went. They put on one of probably one of the best fireworks shows I've ever seen. And then I and I don't even just mean, like, on a small scale. Like, it was the guy spent a fortune on this thing for this park. He was quite proud of himself. Mhmm. And when I figure I thought it was, like, a professional show, and he's like, no. It's me, that guy, and that guy rolling around the beach with blowtorches. I'm like, hey. Good for you guys. Speaker 9
It was It was me. Speaker 5
It was me Safety was lefty and forefinger Jim. Speaker 8
I love that story. That's awesome. Speaker 0
Safety. Yeah. Safety was their their biggest concern for sure. Yeah. But we we enjoyed it so much that we're, we're already starting to do some research on seeing if this is something that we wanna get into maybe next year. So find a trailer, find a park that we Okay. Away from for a seasonal perspective. Speaker 5
You go to the trailers resort, the what was it called? The Tin Cottage, I think, Fred Patterson calls it on Humble and Fred or something like that. The Tin Palace. You had his, trailer, I think, in Lindsay where your parents used to have their trailer. Speaker 0
Is that where it is up near Peterborough there? Speaker 5
Yeah. Well, they're there's they're all over Speaker 0
the place. Yeah. I I know. And it wouldn't be this one that we go to. Like, we really did enjoy it, but it Yeah. We we want something a little different, but the whole concept we quite enjoyed. The community aspect is a lot of fun. Yeah. The only problem was that I my dumbass forgot my wallet there. Speaker 0
We got all the way back to the city. Speaker 5
From Colbert? That's yeah. That's a that's a Speaker 0
Hour and a half. I get home. It wasn't till the next morning I went to go leave, and I went, where's my wall? And then it hit me. I knew exactly where the fuck it was. It was sitting on the shelf in the kitchen of this trailer. I'm like so, thankfully, the the host was really nice. He, he worked for FedEx, I think it is, and he goes, don't worry. It's here. I see it. I got it. I'll send it out to you. So he overnighted it to me, and it got back. So I didn't have to make the drive back. Speaker 0
It is now safely back in my possession. But, anyways, that's that's been my week. Speaker 5
Nice. In the livestream, Awesome says season, episode one to season three of the bear was an incoherent mess. I don't disagree. It was it was all over the place. It was kinda weird, which is, I mean, I love the bear. I like, season two was the best season of television I've seen in a long, long time. Season three right now, it we'll see how it starts. And, Cassie says, Jeff, next time he comes to Ontario wants to go to Wonderland. I'll say this about Wonderland. If you're into roller coasters, it's Oh my. I think it's a great park for roller coasters. How many do they have? Six, seven roller coasters? And More than that. Speaker 5
The tallest and the fastest and the and the reverse ones and the stand up ones, and they've got lots of roller Speaker 8
coasters. One that goes into the ground. Yeah. Speaker 6
The, you know, the Speaker 0
Yukon Striker. Yukon Striker. It's one of the best roller coasters you ever Speaker 8
have. On it? Job? Speaker 0
No. What's that, Tanya? Speaker 8
Have you been on it? Speaker 0
Oh, yeah. Many times. Speaker 8
Like, where you see you're going into the ground? Speaker 0
That's I took my my middle guys. Do you like big enough. Speaker 5
I feel like the scarier part of that would be if you're off on the one of the wings. No.
Speaker 8
Because I don't think your brain is fast enough to catch that you're not going to die.
Speaker 0
So one thing I'll quickly say about that, the Yukon Striker, you'll never feel more secure on a ride than that one. Like, the harness that they have, it's like a full bodysuit. Uh-huh. Whereas the other ones like Leviathan and Behemoth, which are the other two big coasters there, you're sitting on this small seat that's completely exposed, and the only thing holding you in is like a plastic triangle that's that slaps into your waist. So you have nothing over your shoulders.
Speaker 0
Nothing. That is actually like, the blue one, the Leviathan, when you get to the top and you come over and you drop, you feel yourself little
Speaker 5
bit more than a ninety degree drop. Right? That's such
Speaker 0
a That one's super intense.
Speaker 0
Ninety degree drop. That feeling is way scarier than the one you hang because you're just you you quit you can't even move where you wanted to on Yukon. So Anyways Oh
Speaker 8
my god. Quite good. I remember as a kid having the dream after going to Wonderland that I was I I actually felt out of the roller coast. The what's the one where it has the it used to be the the wooden one, the biggest the really long one. Oh my god. Mindbuster? Is it the mind buster? Yeah.
Speaker 0
It's still there, and it's still terrifying.
Speaker 8
Yeah. You, like, lift out there's nothing holding you. Like, there's zero. You have a bar to hold on. You have to hold on to the bar.
Speaker 0
So I went on that I I know we're way getting off topic. Well, I went on that, and there was this girl beside me. I'm like, have you ridden this before? She said, yeah. And I and she's younger, and I laughed. I said, are you scared? She's like, I'm terrified. And I'm like, you should have seen what we used to have because now they do. They have a seat belt
Speaker 0
And cushions and individuals be and still with that, you feel like you're gonna die.
Speaker 8
We did not. We did not. Terrifying
Speaker 0
reckless mess of a ride.
Speaker 8
Your ass would fly off of that seat. And, yeah, if you weren't holding on to it, pretty sure you could have left it.
Speaker 0
Yeah. I'm amazed no one has ever died of
Speaker 8
Wooden roller coasters are the best, though.
Speaker 5
fun. PJ, are you a roller coaster fan? I'm not.
Speaker 7
No. No. You're not a You guys are terrifying
Speaker 6
me just no. No. No. No. No. No.
Speaker 7
I don't do roller coasters at all. I don't do roller coasters. I don't do Ferris wheels.
Speaker 0
I do not like the What about the swan ride?
Speaker 5
Yeah. That's my that's my my jam too, the swan ride.
Speaker 8
Our daughter we were at, CNE, and they you were saying Ferris wheel. Gigantic Ferris wheel. I don't know what its size it is compared to other ones in this world. But, anyways, she was singing the song Great Ways to Die while we were in the Ferris wheel. And I was like, okay. You can maybe stop singing that. I'm like, stop.
Speaker 3
The Ferris wheel and the roller coaster are not in the same category. I mean, it's big and you're high, but there's nothing really, like, dangerous or scary about it.
Speaker 7
Yeah. The height the highest Yeah.
Speaker 5
The height's enough for me. Yeah.
Speaker 7
I was I was in Vegas a couple weeks ago, and they have that giant one.
Speaker 7
And I just looked up at it, and I was just stomach was just doing somersaults.
Speaker 0
Hell no. Fuck no. Right?
Speaker 6
Yeah. Yeah. Dude. Dude.
Speaker 5
How's your week been, p PJ?
Speaker 7
It it's been okay. It's, much like you guys. It's been a kinda sporadic week. You guys had Canadian day or Canada day. We had fourth of July.
Speaker 7
Mhmm. So it's, it started off, last week. I went I I as we alluded to earlier, I'm big, live music. I went and saw the band Goose, in my in one of our local, amphitheaters. And, like to say it was a great show, but I really don't remember.
Speaker 5
So you had a good time.
Speaker 7
did. They were what I remember was great, but,
Speaker 3
They were serving goose, apparently.
Speaker 7
Yeah. They they were doing I goosed. And, unfortunately, the next day happened to be my birthday, so I kinda suffered through that.
Speaker 5
Oh, nice. Well, happy belated birthday.
Speaker 7
Thank you. Thank you. And then I just kinda tried to coast through the rest of the week, try to avoid work as much as possible successfully. And,
Speaker 5
It's good to have calls.
Speaker 7
Absolutely. It's the beauty of being able to work from from anywhere. I can I can I can hit a find a brewery, sit down at it, and have my phone with me and just kinda answer emails and do what I need to do? Mhmm. And then we, got together with friends last week or last yesterday for, the fourth of July, pool party, and then the neighbors had a fireworks. So it was really nice.
Speaker 7
I appreciate you guys not having any spoiler alerts for, or spoilers for the bear. That's one of the ones that we're watching. I haven't started season three yet. I'm looking forward to it. I love season two was, as you said, Al, some of the best TV I've ever seen. Another show my girlfriend and I have been watching is, called Your Honor with Bryan Cranston.
Speaker 7
Yeah. It's it's it's pretty it's pretty intense. It's pretty wild. Yeah. So it's two c two seasons that I know of right now. We're just started the second season. So it's, it's really interesting. So so that's pretty much about it.
Speaker 5
Alright. Well, let's get started on tonight's festivities. Previously. Last week, we kicked off Shorzy three with our review and recap of episode one four to six. And, coincidentally, the only person not to give it a fresh rating was Tanya, who I would say is the four to sixiest of of us all currently. According to our scientific Twitter poll, yes, it is back. Eighty percent of you agreed it was a fresh wall. Twenty percent of you agreed with Tanya, that it was a clearance. No composts were given. This week, we recap and review episode two, Shorzi three, Charlottetown Reds with our buddy, PJ. Victor, are you ready?
Speaker 5
Tanya, are you ready?
Speaker 8
Good. Because I'm going.
Speaker 5
Matt, are you ready?
Speaker 0
Hell, yeah. Fuck yeah.
Speaker 5
PJ, are you ready?
Speaker 7
Damn straight, I am.
Speaker 3
Good. You're fucking going. Yeah. That's good on the go, boys.
Speaker 5
Alright. We open with the song Sunshine by Nazareth and a montage of the Bulldog's locker room as they get ready for a practice. Unlike other universals, universal montages, this one isn't in slow motion. It's the opposite. It's a time lapse. Beginning with Shorzi as the first player in the room taping his stick and the others trickling in and getting geared up, The time lapse stops, but the music continues with without dialogue as we push in slowly on Shorezy. You can see him relishing his time with the boys in the locker room. They make their way out of out on the ice in their practice jerseys, joking around and carrying on. Everyone's in a good mood, cuts after practice, and we're back in the time lapse as the players are all still carrying on while getting showered and changing back, to their street clothes. Shorzi is in no hurry. He just sits there chatting, still in his Under Armour and hockey shorts. Everyone else eventually gets dressed and leaves the locker room, leaving Shorzee sitting there alone. First one in, last one out. Cut to Shorzy, sitting in the arena stands by himself, and then cut again to Shorzy, this time standing alone outside the Sudbury Arena staring at the marquee. And we cut to the title card. That's, that's the first cold open of the season. Victor, what do you think of that?
Speaker 3
That was good. I I I was surprised to hear some Nazareth.
Speaker 5
Right? Yeah. Me too. I was like
Speaker 3
I I I hope he paid royalties for that.
Speaker 5
It's not one of their more well known songs, but I really like the tune.
Speaker 3
It's it's still it's it's one of their probably bigger bands. Right?
Speaker 3
Yeah. That they've they've maybe even the biggest in terms of albums or or or listens or whatever they're they're tracking these days on Spotify.
Speaker 3
Anyway, it was, it was really good. I I thought it was, a good way to start the episode, especially after, they set set the tone in the in the previous one. But, yeah, good start for sure. Mhmm.
Speaker 5
Tam, what'd you think of that?
Speaker 8
I love the feels on this one. Like, that was such it it just it took you into the to the dressing room, but not the, like, bitch fest, not the chirping at each other. It was just that those good kind of feels of the camaraderie and and the the the team and and how they are with each other, and it just was fantastic. I really liked it.
Speaker 5
Yeah. I really enjoyed this scene. I mean, it's no secret what this season's about. Shorzy's aging out of the game. And I love how this showed his love for what well, the parts of the game he loves, and that's being with the boys in the locker room. You can like, the pushes in on his face while he's chatting, and everyone else around them, they're just taking for granted what's going on, but he's taking it all in. And the song selection was was great. Yeah. Matt, what'd you think?
Speaker 0
I think this might be one of my favorite opens across the entire universe, like, both shows. I yeah. I really enjoyed it. It had the feels. Like Tanny said, it pulled you right in. The music was a fantastic choice. I loved his perspective on it and the technical creation of this all. I love the the the really slow pushes and pulls Mhmm. In and out of each scene. I would love to know how many takes that first one took because I don't know what the time lapse was, but it clearly was over whatever as he's prepping, and they're all entering.
Speaker 5
has to be long enough for people to come in, get dressed into hockey gear, and yeah.
Speaker 0
Yeah. And the speed of the push on that, I don't know. But I I thought it was extremely well done and set the tone and the and the feel for this episode really well. So no. I'd I hands down, this was one of my favorite opening, and big big shout out to the crew on this one for pulling it off because, they they had me hook, line, and sinker on this one.
Speaker 3
Yeah. The the only thing I was confused about later Mhmm. Because of this scene was that there there was a and we'll get to this, but there was a conversation about JJ not being away for a week or something like that. And then I'm thinking, wait. But he was there in that opening scene.
Speaker 5
Well, he came back he got back just in time for the game.
Speaker 3
But I I yeah. Sure. I guess I guess I just got But
Speaker 0
he was at practice.
Speaker 5
Oh, that's true. Yeah. He was at practice. Yeah.
Speaker 0
Good call. That's a weird Mhmm.
Speaker 3
It's I was that that ended up being just distracting for me. That's all.
Speaker 5
There's another, incongruent, thing that I'll I'll get to a little later too. But, I mean, so far so far, so good with this cold open. PJ, what do you think?
Speaker 7
I I Victor, that's a great point because I wrote it down too about the JJ Franke thing. It it seemed a little bit out of place. Like everybody's touched on, Nazareth, when I was growing up, you know, that hair of the dog album was best album cover I think I've ever seen in my life. Never a huge fan of their song. I loved, you know, their music, but I was never one of those, I don't know if it was metal or whatever you wanna call it, but really like that song. It was really nice. And, to see Shorzy sitting there, and he he just seemed to be not Shorzy. He was smiling. He wasn't being his little pain in the ass self. He just seemed to be really enjoying the moment as you said. I I thought it was a really nice opening. I liked it.
Speaker 5
Tobias in the livestream says this needs to be in the discussion with true love in terms of the song selection. I don't disagree. I thought it was, I thought it was pretty well done. So cut to scene two, out of the cold open. The music stops abruptly. We hear Shorzy ask this question.
Speaker 1
What's a fucking webinar?
Speaker 4
Only one is a webinar. The other two are seminars.
Speaker 1
We're in the national senior tournament. So? So we don't have time for a web
Speaker 8
Do what you told you, dumb fuck.
Speaker 1
Fuck you, Zee, you fucking hee haw.
Speaker 5
Nat instructs Shorzy to look at the wall. There's a banner that reads for the community, by the community. They're going to use this national tournament to give back to Sudbury.
Speaker 4
With a webisode? Webinar. The other two are seminars. Two? Yes. One webinar and two seminars.
Speaker 8
total of what, Shorzy? Count it out on your fingers, bud.
Speaker 1
Count me out all this, you fucking goat face.
Speaker 4
Uh-uh. As captain of the host at Brave Blueberry Bulldogs, you have to show face.
Speaker 8
For what? For the community. By the community.
Speaker 1
That's ambitious, Nat.
Speaker 4
Hockey players give back, always have. They're good citizens. They make themselves available to help. They give their time like the hockey players before them gave their time. You a hockey player, Shosie?
Speaker 1
When's the first salmon arm?
Speaker 8
Seminar. Seriously, how does he not have his kiss all down the front end?
Speaker 4
First game tonight, first seminar tomorrow. Let's be ready for Charlottetown reds.
Speaker 5
As funny as that line is, Zeig is is really great in this scene. I love her her put downs to Shorzi. As Zig jokes that Shorzy is too hurt to play against Charlottetown, Nat says Shorzy always finds a way to contribute. Meig is already hearing chatter about how nice they are. Nat asks Sieg what the name of the Charlottetown main guy is. Cut to scene three. Cut to Shores again. Laura Moore sitting at Eddie's. Laura answers Matt's question.
Speaker 8
Gord Gallant. Gorgeous Gord?
Speaker 1
Tell me how you really feel. He's a good looking guy. Just another slut.
Speaker 1
did you get to be such a straight tamale? Practice. Dedication, hard work. You're a straight ghost pepper. I'm interviewing him after this. Interviewing who? Gorgeous corn. Well, I hope you're ready.
Speaker 1
Better get ready.
Speaker 1
He's gonna take one look at you. He's gonna say,
Speaker 10
He's gonna take one look at you.
Speaker 1
He's gonna say, this place is great. I'm interviewing one standout player from each team you guys play. These fucking guys, we get to come to Sudbury and see the best thing we got. Big nickel? Laura, you are the best thing in Sudbury. You're drunk. You've seen me drunk.
Speaker 5
Cut shots. Cut to shots of the sluts. Perfect season celebration. And then back to Shorzy and Laura, and she doesn't think that she get that drunk again. Shorzy says he's been hearing a lot of chatter about how nice Charlottetown guys are. Laura says, bets that, Gord is a donkey. Shorzy disagrees. He saw a picture of Gord on the tournament program, and he's earned his nickname.
Speaker 1
I'd say bring him off and bucket. You're such an idiot. So you're gonna be thinking about him the next time you're just knocking my socks off? Yeah. Rocking my world. Think so? It'll be a whole gorgeous gourd the next time you're just making my universe literally melt around me. I'm all, like, floating and planets all, like, fucking All fucking, like, what? In orbit.
Speaker 5
Laura informed Shorzy she'll be interviewing him too, so don't forget to pencil her in. She knows he's been stepping out on her with that other guy. This confuses Shorzy. Who's the other guy? Cut to the next scene and that other guy who's none other than Jory Jordan, host of the Sudbury Kids Sports Report. Jory announces the scores of the first few games of the tournament. The Sue Hunt narrowly defeat the Von Canadezi three two. The and Les Rapides de Rodin soundly beat the Brooks Berylman six one. However, the Brooks Freezer twins are herding guys, and we cut to a bunch of big crunching, hits by the Freezin brothers.
Speaker 10
Starting off with the host bulldog's captain.
Speaker 5
Oh, what's going on here? Jory then?
Speaker 1
I'd say bring him off.
Speaker 5
No. That's not it. Okay. I'm stuck here. Jory then throws to the next segment. Oh, no. Here we go.
Speaker 10
sixty nine. Sure. I've spent some time with this fellow recently and if given the opportunity again, I'd rather draw on my face with a box cutter. Would you look at him? That's a face only a mother should have smothered. Next, we have number four, Goodleaf, a man with all the charm of a clogged toilet. I've seen more charisma from stains on a dog bed. Number fourteen, Hitchcock, who is now offering to sit on your front porch on Halloween for a small feat. Number three, Jollofy Abbey, who looks like he enjoyed some of the Johnny Red eye that day. Number ten, JJ Frankie JJ, who I just know is walking around with a bad wife. And finally, number nineteen,
Speaker 10
We'll see the puck quite well for a guy whose eyes are so close together.
Speaker 5
Troy goes on to introduce the Charlottetown team with the same gusto.
Speaker 10
I've been hearing lots of chatter about how nice these guys are. Let's meet them, ladies and gentlemen. Here we've got starting goalie number thirty, Ewan McDonald. Who thinks this guy's ugly? You and me both. Up next, we got number sixteen, Murphy. See now, this fella's eyes are a bit too far apart, which is something that happens when mommy goes glug glug while fetus is still snug as a bug in a rug. That's right, kids. I'm talking about fetal alcohol syndrome. Moving on to number nine, Smith, the face of Prince of Rhode Island Dental Care. Number eleven, Kaden Campbell, because it wouldn't be a Canadian hockey team without a Kaden, Hayden, Connor, or Cole. Number twenty seven, Jackson Barnard. Look at the forehead on this man. Careful down time after dark, Jackie boy. Someone's gonna write Skoden on that thing. Finally, hockey player or Hallmark movie hunk? My god.
Speaker 5
Rounding out the starting lineup of the Charlottetown reds is gorgeous Gord Gallant. Production note, Gord Gallant is played by former hockey and football player turned real estate investor, Nick LaPorte. Nick signed with two pro football teams in the US. One of them was the, Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena League and even attended CFL free free agent camp, but he didn't make the cut due to a torn calf and Visa issues. But, no, he's a real deal, folks. He's a athlete through and through. I even showed Tanya a picture of him earlier, and she it took her a while to count all the abs on the boy. It's
Speaker 3
not related to Gerard Gallant.
Speaker 5
I I don't think so. No. Wow.
Speaker 3
Who who does not have any app?
Speaker 5
You can ask him yourself. I'm actually in talks right now with, Nick Nick Lepore to come on the podcast, and he's agreed. We're just waiting on some dates. So looking forward to having him on. Cut scene five cuts to Laura Moore, interviewing the gorgeous one himself. Gore gives typical humble hockey player answers to Laura's questions like, it's an honor to be competing with the best teams in the country. No one can outwork them, and they're confident they can win that way. Laura talks about, the team name. Gord answers PEI as red sand. I I can attest to that. I've been there. Red fox and Anna Green Gables' hair was red. That's why they're called the reds. The interview ends, and Gord takes his shot. Speaker 11
You're off the clock? Speaker 1
Just in time for gin o'clock. Speaker 11
I didn't wanna cross any professional boundaries while you're at work, but if you're off now Speaker 1
I'm seeing someone. I figured. Thanks again. Speaker 11
Well, I hope he's kind, gentle, and compassionate. Speaker 5
The lord looks at Gord, smiles, and says, nope. Scene six, cut to a musical montage of Shorzi and the sluts arriving for the game, and then fans arriving and purchasing their tickets at the window, getting their puppers, and taking to the stands. The players also come out of the locker rooms and make their way to the ice for warm up skate. Shorzy is pulled aside by Nat and management. They tell him he's doing a quick hit for Bro Dude, and Nick, awaits Shorzy in the tunnel. Speaker 4
I think I'll show you here with the man who needs no introduction to our audience. Shorzine, what's the Bulldog's game plan for the Shelby Town Reds tonight? Speaker 1
Well, we know these guys love hard work. That's how we've been hearing about them for the last week. So I don't know how fucking nice they are. Speaker 1
can I swear on here? Speaker 1
You know, it's like they want me to fuck one of them, so many people telling me how nice they are. But, you know, we gotta come out hard and fast here, show them we're here to compete. When they come out hard, we'll come out harder. So, you know, we stick for our game plan out there. Keep it simple, do the little things right, and, implement with a w. Speaker 4
Thanks, Rosie. You bet. Speaker 5
Shorzy joins his team on the ice. Nat and management join Anik. They start apologizing for Shorzy and all the hockey cliche answers, but Anik's impressed with Shorzy's interview. She thinks he was great. Scene seven cut to the players on the ice during the warm up skate Gallant, takes a knee near Shorzy and the gyms on the ice and wishes them good luck. Speaker 11
Gentlemen, good luck out here tonight. All the best. Wanted to let you know we brought a ton of fresh Atlantic lobsters, a gift to the host. We're good anytime. Speaker 6
What the fuck you Speaker 1
doing? What? Get the fuck out of here. Buddy. Why are you still fucking here talking to me? You're trying to be my buddy? Speaker 1
He wants to be my buddy, Jim? Yeah. Jim? Yes. Jim? Speaker 5
I think it's more tooth than a lobster. Get Speaker 10
the fuck out of here. Relax. Speaker 6
What's the matter Speaker 1
with this guy? Tell tell you what. Speaker 5
As you can hear, a skirm skirmish ensues. Cut to the players leaving the ice after warm up. Fish criticizes Shorzey. Only he can almost start a warm up brawl with the nicest guy in hockey. Sanger comments Shorzey, commends Shorzey for dragging the team into the fight. That's how he sets the tone. Bye. Shorzey doesn't care how fucking nice they are. Why is he talking to Shorzy about fucking supper before the game? Sanger changes the subject. He asks where Frankie has been. He's been gone all week. Just got in this afternoon. They have a quick chat about, strategy, and then Sanger informs Shorzy that his line is starting. Shorzy isn't happy about this. He, he says for fuck's sakes. Cut to c nine, and we see why Shorzey isn't happy about starting because the starting lineup has to be out on the ice during the anthem with their helmets off, and the sluts are standing at attention at center ice showing off their reverse Mohawks in all their glory. One of the players in the opposing team is looking at them confused. Cut to the gameplay, set to the song, zero zero one by HWLS or Howells maybe. Bulldogs have trouble clearing their zone. The reds, outwork them and score first. Sanguinets calls a time out. The Bulldogs are sucking wind. They're being severely outworked. Shorzy yells at his squad. They can't lose their first game of the fucking tournament. Sanger calls the sluts, line. So they line up for face off. Shorzey lines up with Gallant and starts chirping him and lean leaning on him. Gallant pushes Shorzey away, and Shorzey gives him a quick slash to the leg. And Gallant returns the slash at Shorzey, and Shorzey plays it up to the refs, drawing a two minute penalty for Gallant. Fish, scores on the ensuing power play to tie things up. And now with the momentum, Dolo scores to put them up two one, and then Goody helps out helps pad the lead with a goal making a three one. But a two goal lead is the worst lead in hockey, so they look for another, and they get it from an improbable goal from the gym line. The gyms of the dagger put the bulls Bulldogs up four one, and you can make the final four one for the blueberry Bulldogs over the reds. And Nick catches up with Shorzy in the tunnel for some post games comments. Speaker 4
Shorzi, bit of a rocky start for the Bulldogs, but you were able to claw your way back. What changed after the first reds goal? Speaker 1
Well, you know, the first rule to playoff hockey is don't get too high, don't get too low. So, you know, I think it was the right time for Sanger to call a time out there, get the boys refocused. And, obviously, we went out, pouted one right after. Never looked back. So he's a good coach. Speaker 4
Looked like you and nice guy, Gord Galantro, having words to warm up. What happened there? Speaker 1
My agent was trying to Speaker 4
fuck me. Oh, what did you say? Speaker 1
That'd be a lot nicer than that. Speaker 4
Fascinating. Yeah. He really doesn't give a shit, Speaker 8
I think he's good on camera if he can shoot from the hip. Fucking useless if you ask him to read, though. Speaker 5
And Nick thinks they have something there in Shorzy. Scene ten, cut to the Bulldogs locker room. The players celebrate their win. Shorzy awards the game stick to Michaels for being perfect two out of three periods. Shorzey tosses a stick at Michaels and then tackles him to the ground in celebration. Cut to a montage set to the song Universal Mind Control by Common, featuring Sudbury fans celebrating the win. Next scene, scene eleven. Next day back at the Sudbury arena, the sluts arrive for the first salmon of the salmon arms. Shorzey asked why Michaels is there. Nat says he's going to MC. Shorzey thinks this means he's rapping. Sure, Michael Michaels corrects him. Nat Nat asks if they're ready to give back to the community. Speaker 4
This is the first seminar of the week, and it is going to be a great one. Speaker 1
Let's set the tone in here now. Speaker 4
We've got the captain of the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs, the three alternate captains, and the best goalie in the no show. Speaker 4
And the subject of today's seminar is nutrition. Nutrition? Speaker 7
What about what? Nutrition. Speaker 11
Just like food groups and carbs and fats and all that? Settle down. Speaker 4
No. Like breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Speaker 12
My three favorite meals. Speaker 4
These kids are nigh, dude. Speaker 1
All of our nutrition in here, boys. Big day for nutrition in here now. Speaker 0
It was a joke, guys. Cuesta. Speaker 12
That breakfast, lunch, and dinner are my three favorite meals. There's only three meals. Speaker 1
Michael, shut the fuck up. Speaker 11
We just gotta tell them what we have for breakfast. Speaker 4
Don't complicate this. These kids look up to you. Just tell them what you do to prepare for a game, and they'll eat it right up. Speaker 5
Nat tells the sluts to put in the time, give the kids a thrill, and wrap it up. They've got, they've gotta get ready for the Italians. It sure they're really fast. Then he adds, if they're Italian, they're fast. Nat wonders if saying that is racist. Sure as he thinks it probably is. Next scene, scene twelve. Next scene, the, sluts are ready for the seminar, sitting in stools in front of a bunch of empty chairs with Michaels in the middle of at a podium. Nat ushers the group of kids in. Shorzy says he's so hungry, and now they have to talk about food. In walks exactly three kids plus Corey and Lian. Sure, as he questions why they're there, they're counselors at the hockey school. Michaels is disappointed at the turnout. Corey reminds them that, that they're senior well crap hockey players. No one cares. Nat urges Michaels to get started. Speaker 1
Hey. Welcome, everyone, to today's nutrition seminar. Speaker 12
As many of you know, my name is Mark Michaels. Okay. Speaker 1
please start selling what you have for breakfast? The most important thing about hockey is how you prepare. No. The most important thing in hockey is winning. Sure. Michaels, just tell them what you have for breakfast. We got the Italians tomorrow. Oddly enough, guys, I'm starting a new thing. Hitch, what do you have for breakfast? Eggs. Sick. Eggs are nice. Speaker 1
you telling us what you had for breakfast? Doesn't he have to raise his hand for Speaker 0
Yes. In your name. Speaker 1
Doesn't matter. Why are you telling us what you had for breakfast? Just give me some nutrition tips. Eggs for breakfast isn't a tip. Eggs are unbelievable. Just there's gonna be some other tips coming. Stuff you probably haven't thought about. Goody. How do you cook your eggs? Speaker 11
My girlfriend cooks them. Speaker 7
How does she cook them? Speaker 1
Oh, brazy is nice. Speaker 11
Eggs on toast is pretty good. Speaker 12
Oh, yeah. Pretty gangster. Yep. Are they trolling us right now? Speaker 1
Michaels, let's try this again. What do you have for breakfast? Speaker 1
I'm actually doing a new thing called intermittent fat. No. No. What do you have for Speaker 5
breakfast? Scrambled. Speaker 1
Oh, yeah? A little scramby? A little scrambo? Speaker 12
paid sixty five bucks for this. Speaker 1
You, put anything in those eggs, Dolo? Speaker 5
Gosh, you feel funky? It's been so much. Speaker 12
Oh, jeez. Okay. But stay away from cheese in the pregame. Speaker 11
Cheese can go eat away on you, guys. Speaker 1
What the fuck is happening here? I just wanna stick with some peppers, maybe some onions, a little bit of ham. Ham's nice. Speaker 11
That's a Denver omelet. No. That's a western omelet. Speaker 1
It's the same thing. Are they? Speaker 1
do you think of that tip, Cor? What tip? Just guys, be careful with the stoves. Okay? Speaker 0
You think they're making their own breakfast? Speaker 12
They're not. Their moms do it. Speaker 1
Alright, Michaels. You ready to play ball? I stopped eating from six PM to twelve noon. So technically, my first meal is lunch. So it's What do you have for lunch? I'm more of a fruit guy, but You said it, not me. Speaker 5
Next scene next scene cuts to Sanger and management in Matt's office. Matt is telling about how the seminar went. The kids loved Shorzy. This surprises Meagan Zieg. Nat would love to see that audience grow. Sanger suggests they they let Shorzey just focus on hockey. Nat agrees he didn't, have his strongest game against the reds. Zeke brings the stats up. They won four one and Shorze was a minus one. They're all hurt except Frankie. Nat reminds them Shorze always finds a way to contribute. Sanger says he needs him focused on the Italians. If they're Italian, they're going to be fast, perhaps on the account of their narrower urethras. I don't know. Nat, once again, asks whether saying that is racist. Meg and Zieg respond, no. Sanger continues, they'll need to keep an eye on keep an eye out for Sly Silvestri. He'll be, bringing the, the the lumber. Excuse me. Cut to a quick shot of Laura Moore sitting down with Sly for his interview. And then cut to the townhouse. Gorgeous Gord is shooting pool. Shorzy is picking up some takeout, sees Gallant, and walks over to him. Speaker 1
Hey, Marty. Gordo. Hey. How long does that crab stay good? What? Speaker 1
stay good four or five days till the tournament's over? Speaker 11
you What do you want? Speaker 1
wanna eat up all that crab you brought. Drink some beers. Speaker 11
It was lobster. Speaker 1
I was sure you said crab. Speaker 11
Well, then you weren't listening. Speaker 1
I'm really looking forward to that crab, Gordon. Look. I don't know what lobsters eat, but if you need some food to keep them good for a little while, I'll see if I can find some food. Let's eat it up once the tournament's over. Drink some beers. What if you can get some crab brought in? Speaker 5
Shores Shorze walks off, leaving Gore just standing there shaking his head, and we cut to black. Alright. That is the recap. First up, with just comments, no ratings yet. Victor, you're up. Speaker 3
Yeah. It was lots of fun. Mhmm. I have to say that the, storyline with, the seminar, was probably more, fun and amusing for me than than the the the main storyline. That exchange at the beginning was hilarious. I was a little bit upset that they used that in the trailers, to be honest. That would have been nice to have heard that for the first time in the in the full episode. I never like it when they give away the good stuff in trailers. It's like, you know, just keep it in your pants. You know what I mean? So so that was a really, really fun exchange. I loved, you liked Sieg, but I loved the comment where he's calling her a hee haw. That was just Speaker 5
Well, both of them back and forth was just Speaker 3
There yeah. It was it was great. It was it was a really nice exchange that didn't get crass. It was just hilarious. It was I I I really enjoyed it. Speaker 5
a line what is this? Seriously, how isn't he not peeing down his, Speaker 5
Yeah. Just a simple thing. Speaker 3
Yeah. Yeah. And then and then you get the payoff at the end where they they're doing the seminar. And, it it's just for me that, again, the the hockey stuff was good, but I really enjoyed that storyline. I I, you know, they did that really well because sometimes, you know, that stuff doesn't work out so well. Like, it confused Tanya last week. But, but but this time, you know, I I think everybody enjoyed the humor. Speaker 5
I think what we learned from last week is we need to just keep to hockey. Tanya will get it as long as you stick to hockey. Speaker 3
And by the way, we we we during that montage at the beginning, everything was feel good except poor Michael's got a ribbing from, Speaker 5
Yeah. But he's used to that. And and it, firstly, seems still kind of extra smiley with him even though he was, like, pushing them up against them. Speaker 3
Just a fun little, you know. Yeah. Speaker 5
For sure. Tan, what did you think of this? Speaker 8
Speaking of keep it in your pants, Victor, we watched that Speaker 8
That you recommended Speaker 8
Oh, wow. Like Which one? Speaker 5
Wow. Naked Attraction. Holy Speaker 3
Oh, no. My god. Oh my god. I thought we were doing that on air. Speaker 5
Oh, we're not talking about that? Speaker 3
That show on air. I believe that was at the coffee shop with the wacky Speaker 8
Oh, was it? Yeah. Okay. Yes. Either way, keep it in your pants, people. Like, wow. Speaker 5
I think I'll recommend it. I thought it's just hilarious. Speaker 5
are fucking funny. Anyone who has Amazon Prime needs to check out Nate Nate attraction. Basically, it's the the dating game, but instead of people asking like, singles asking other people questions, they're looking at each other naked, for instance. Speaker 3
I'll just put a warning out. It's not something you can ever unsee. No. Speaker 5
Yeah. It's very graphic. It's very graphic. Speaker 8
Like, they explain and talk about Volvos. Like, it it's very in-depth. Speaker 5
But, anyway, what did you think of this? Speaker 8
Sorry. He Victor started it. He said, speak of keeping your pads. So, this He did. This was this was good. So I Zeke, holy. She is vicious. Speaker 5
I know. I love it. I love it. Speaker 8
She is vicious, and, she really goes on the attack. So, the first, episode that we watched, she was quite mean. Mhmm. And Speaker 5
But they're mean with each other, though. Speaker 8
They are mean with each other, but she, like, takes it into the, like, you're you're dumb. Speaker 8
But this one was, like, you're dumb and but it it was just I don't know. She's she's so mean. She's really mean. She's very quick, with her comments. This week or sorry. This episode, you know, count with your fingers, you know, up to three. And, you know, she was surprised that he didn't have piss all the way all all down the front of him. She's quick. She is so fast, and, she she chirps just as as good as Shorzy does Speaker 8
When Shorzy's on the ice. She she's that good. Only one, only person that is close to both of them is Jori. Holy shit. I think the three of them should be I think there should be, some sort of a a roast battle between the three of them. And I want Speaker 5
Can you imagine? Speaker 8
Can you imagine? Speaker 5
That'll be a season four thing. A roast battle between Shorzy, Zeke, and Jory Jordan. Speaker 5
Officiated by Kevin, by Kate Trevor Wilson. Speaker 8
No. And Nick. And Nick. Speaker 5
No. That's that's his way of bringing back some of his friends from Letterkenny because the actual roast battles Canada is officiated by Russell Peters, k Trevor Wilson, and I forget who's the Speaker 8
third person. Can you imagine, though? Those three are vicious. Speaker 8
Jory in this season, holy mackerel, he did. He he was mean with his chirps as well. And and mommy goes glug glug. Like, holy. That boy was just ripping everyone apart, and no one was safe. And, he was, I I and I don't know whether I like him on his own doing that style or with Shorzy and ripping Shorzy parts. Speaker 5
People reacting to him. I like the way he doesn't give a shit how they react to him. So I like having him there with Shorzy or with the three Sue Hunt in season three. That was pretty funny. The banana phone. That was, Speaker 8
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That moment. What I was so happy about, Laura Moore and Shorzy sitting there at, Eddie's and having, having their banter back and forth, they just make me so happy. Like, I get And Speaker 8
As as soon as I see I'd like I can't there's not a bad episode with the two of them in it. Yes. Like, just they make me happy so much. Oh, Shorzy in the tunnel with a Nick. That was a first. And, you know, her saying fuck no. Him saying about, you know, swearing and and her saying fuck no. Where are they airing this? Where like, where like, is it Speaker 5
Bro dude seems to be a cable hockey show or Speaker 8
something because They are. Speaker 5
Yeah. Because they they they swear in the the questionable call segments too. So Speaker 8
Yeah. And the whole thing with, you know, the lobsters, and him setting the tone and, like, how do you pick a fight with the nicest people ever Speaker 8
Bringing you lobsters. I just I wanted to eat with them. Anyways, yeah, it was a it was a great, it was a great it was a great episode. Speaker 5
Okay. Alright. Before I I get to keeping praise on this, just one thing I noticed in this episode. When they're introducing the teams for the tournament, they say that Northern Ontario, Southern Ontario, and and Sudbury are being represented. So Southern Ontario is Von, the Von Canadese. Does that mean Northern Ontario or the Sue Hunt? Because Sue is in Michigan. So they've got an American team competing in the national senior tournament. So there's a a bit of a, you know, just a little bit of a a thing there. But, anyway, let's disregard They Speaker 0
say what? Northern Ontario, Southern Ontario, and what? Speaker 5
And Sudbury. So when when they're introduced Sudbury? That Western Ontario, they're barrelmen. Yeah. Yeah. Eastern Ontario or sorry. Western Canada or or the Alberta team, Eastern Canada, Charlottetown. There's a team from Quebec and three teams from Ontario, Northern, Southern, and Sudbury. So Northern is supposed to be the Sioux hunt, but Sioux hunts are from Michigan, not Ontario. So I know that Michigan likes calling themselves, what, Southern Canada. But, I mean, in this case whatever. I mean, we'll let it we'll let it slide because Speaker 3
Sounds like a questionable call to me. Speaker 8
does. Like something Victor should, take up with Keesa. Speaker 5
Yeah. I'm I'm afraid Jared might come up to me and say, well, he but they won the no show, and so that's why they're representing. So yes. But, anyway, Speaker 7
If Journey if Journey can get away with saying born and raised in South Detroit Speaker 7
Basically Ontario Yeah. And we can give these guys a little bit of slack. Speaker 5
Other than that, love this episode. It was delightful. The the seminar was a lot of fun and just, like, having three kids show up and and Corey and Liam Liam being there, chirping from the back of the of the the crowd. Well Sixty bucks a ticket. Sixty bucks a ticket. Right? Speaker 5
Sixty five. If I were a parent sending my kid to that having to yeah. I would be pissed off too. Zeig loved Speaker 8
her meet and greet. Speaker 5
I loved Zeig in this, going toe to toe with Shorzy, and Jory, of course, delivers the gold. And pair that with that gold that that cold open, which was a gold open, with great music. Yeah. I loved everything about this, episode. I can't think of anything to to gripe about. Speaker 0
Matt? Yeah. This is a good one. There's lots to bite onto. You guys have called it a lot. I'll touch on the the webinar seminar, seminar, thing is brilliant. I'm with Victor. I really like this story line. And my take on the actual seminar, the reason it's as funny and as successful it is is because of Corey and Liam. If they weren't in the room, it would detract a lot from what happened. So those two reacting and and Speaker 3
What is happening? Speaker 0
Was the The whole time? Like, that those two owned that scene. Like, even though what the sluts were saying was hilarious, they they drove the pace of that scene, and I'm so glad they incorporated them into it. So that's why that scene works so well. Small call out, I'm quite certain that was Eddie sitting behind, Shorzy and Laurie Moore sitting in the restaurant there, the Eddie Mhmm. Of the restaurant. So I'm pretty sure that was him. Love the lobster offering, from the PEI guys. That really made me laugh and hit home a bit. I've got an East Coast family, and most of them are Nova Scotia. But even though lobster is plentiful in Nova Scotia, when we do lobster fest, we usually bring it in for PEI as well. So, that really that really hit home for me and and and made me smile because they were just just it shows up a lobster offering, and, surely, turning around to crab made me laugh even harder. Michaels. Michaels is feeling much more season one Speaker 0
Than he than he did last season. It's like his personality from one is back. We're not having this goalies are all fucking weird like you did in the second one with this ominous character, and it really came through in the seminar scene, which I'm not against. I I think it's pretty fun. Another small call out, something I really enjoyed was Jacob Smith fish his celebration after his goal. If you watch, right after he gets his goal, he gets down and skids across the ice on one knee. Speaker 0
I don't know. Maybe it looked hard and looked impressive to me. It felt like it felt like one of those, like, soccer goal slides they do. Only he did it on one knee on the ice, so I don't know. I was really impressed by it, and so I wonder if Speaker 7
And it was almost slow motion. Right? Speaker 0
It was awesome, man. Speaker 0
Yeah. I I made a call out of that for sure. And I love that someone called this in the live stream because I had it written down as well. So Paddle in the live stream called this out. Shorzy and his, interviews with with the Nick, totally reminded me of the pro hockey media relations one zero one stuff they did, that him and play fair did on Letterkenny problems YouTube channel years ago. Speaker 0
like they were tapping into those Yeah. Cliche interviews again and and redoing it, via Shorzy's persona. But, totally, as soon as he did that, that's immediately what I thought about and and love that they was going back and then almost, like, circling back to that that aspect. So, and the last thing I'll call out that, I really like this just in general. Again, keeping the tone on the intro is the the the some of the the shots that are going on. So the intro was really well done. Technically, they incorporated a lot more, crowd into this episode. So, like, before, before the game and after the game, there's a lot of, like, that all that entrance sequence sequence where they're going upstairs and the fans are showing their tickets and getting hyped up for the game, and then all the celebration after the game. I really like that. It make the show feel more three-dimensional. Letterkenny, I think, always really there was a set characters, wasn't a lot of extras, so it really felt within its world Speaker 5
when you They were very static shots. There's a lot more movement in the camera this season. And I don't remember if we brought this up in in episode one, but I'll I'll bring it up I'll call it out now. No Jacob Tierney as director this season. He's not he's not there as he's not there as director. This season's directed by, and I forget the name. I'm sure Austin will tell us in the livestream. The but, so if it feels different, there could be a reason Okay. There's a change in direction there because there's fewer static shots, you know, set shots. Now we're getting a lot more camera movement, a lot more people in the shots. It's it's interesting. Yeah. Speaker 0
Yeah. And I definitely made note of that. I mean and I like it. It really brings it together, Feels more real and and holistic as a show. So, no. This one was really good. And then, oh, you guys called it the deep cuts. Speaker 0
My god. This this episode took shots. Everyone's coming out strong. So the writers on this one, they were out for blood, and I'm for it. Speaker 5
Alright. PJ. Oh, and sorry. So Dan Skeen, I think, is the director of of record for this season. Speaker 0
I thought he was the, Speaker 5
the what it the the the stunt guy. He does he coordinated the hockey scenes, but I think he's also now director Yeah. For this season, at least. Okay. PJ. Speaker 7
One of the reasons that I love this, this this podcast, this wrap up is because it makes me realize what I might be missing. Mhmm. Because I wasn't crazy about the the whole webinar webinar seminar, thing. Mhmm. But I'm seeing it now as we're going through this. It's just a vehicle for incredible lines Speaker 7
That story scene. I I'm not crazy about those on their own, but my god, the the the chirps and the lines that came out of there were were hilarious. So I so I'm I'm changing my tune on that. Another thing that that both Al and Tanya, touched on and both different perspectives, When they said that Shorzy's line was was starting, he said, fuck. Al, you said because of the the reverse Mohawk, Tanya, you alluded to the fact that maybe he's realizing the game is passing him by. I didn't understand why he was so upset because, I mean, he lives hockey. Mhmm. And I don't know. Because then all of a sudden, he changes his tune after that time out Speaker 7
Where he jumps out. Speaker 5
No. I believe I believe the fuck was just because they were going to have to sit stand center ice with their their buckets off, showing off their shaved Speaker 7
didn't think of that. That doesn't make sense. My one of my complaints was I think that, that showing them breathing heavily was a little bit too contrived for me, but I get it. They were setting the tone and everything. Speaker 0
So I don't disagree with that statement. That that that moment felt a little off to me, but Speaker 0
what it is. Yeah. I get you. Speaker 7
But, also, I I didn't understand quite why Fish was so upset that Shorzey started a pregame fight. Speaker 5
I think he was upset. I think he's he's he's jawing at him. He's like, I can't believe he's try he started a brawl with the nicest guy in hockey. I always just said the same thing. Right? Like, only Shorzi only Shorzi would do that. Like, when Speaker 7
a little bit in awe. Speaker 5
Yeah. When we have Nick Lipor on and and Victor invariably says something, to to make him feel uncomfortable or angry, we'll say the same thing to him. Say, only Victor would say something to upset the nicest guy in in, in hockey. Yeah. Speaker 7
And I agree I agree with what you have to say about Zeig and, you know, me almost kinda being the the app the opposite of of Zeig, you know, being the soother. But then I didn't I also didn't understand why Nat was so she didn't see she didn't see the same type of, interview skills that Anik saw. Mhmm. Yeah. She was like, oh, she almost felt like he sucked, and Anik's like, no. He was pretty damn good. Yeah. And, you know, it just it was just a different and, again, like that opening the cold open, you saw a different side of Shorzy. Not not the chirping one, the one that's being, professional and and and Yeah. Saying all the right things. Yeah. Normally, you need, you know, just go off and and say these, these things that were just anti and to goad people into things. So that was just interesting to see that that dichotomy, that that that dynamic. Sure. Speaker 0
getting the feeling at all that there's, like, an agenda there? Like, the way Amik's responding, and it feels like there's, like the way she's reacting and even when she is, like, defending Zaynabadi is, like, it feels like there's a motive or something going on. Speaker 5
Oh, I've got I've got a theory on that that we'll talk about Speaker 3
One hundred percent. Speaker 5
Yeah. But, yeah. Speaker 3
We just don't know it. Speaker 7
Yeah. And I could I could have Googled this. What does skoden mean? Speaker 5
Skoden. It's a so if if you think back to, Letterkenny. Letterkenny. It's a saying that the natives use to to it's like a it's a, what are those called, portmanteau or something where where you attach a bunch of different words together and make them one word. So scoden is short for let's go then, and, and and is short for let's do this. And it's something that's said a lot in the native community. Okay. Okay. Mhmm. Speaker 7
But, yeah, I I I've changed my tune. I I watched this three times, you know, in advance of this. Yeah. And then I think, you know, just realizing that those webinars and the jury scenes are just vehicles for pretty damn good writing. Mhmm. Speaker 5
Yeah. Correction in the livestream. Thank you, Austin. Sean and Dan Skeen, they are the action and stunt coordinators, for Shorzy. This year, they're sharing director duties. Apparently, Sean does episode one to three, and Dan does episodes four to six. Again, though no Jacob Tierney in this season, which is I think it's noteworthy because Jacob Tierney's been, Keeso's partner since day one. So the fact that he wasn't here, hopefully, it means that he was he was, you know, just not available for for this season. Speaker 3
Working on the other forty nine episodes. Speaker 5
Yeah. Maybe working on the other whatever. But, yeah, it's, interesting to to note. But, also, if we do see any kind of stylistic differences, that could be the reason. And and and, Austin makes the other point. Every scene is shot like an action sequence. So hence, the extra camera movement. Right? Whereas before, we had some static shots and not a lot of movement. Now we're getting a lot more movement. Speaker 3
Mhmm. We'll see if he makes an appearance as the color color guy. Speaker 5
Right. Yeah. We can imagine a season without Benny or Remy. Alright. We're moving on to ratings. Victor, what do you give this? Compost, clearance? Speaker 3
Can we do ratings before the MVP? Is Speaker 3
Really? I'm gonna I'm I'm having a Tanya moment. Speaker 7
a refill. I'll be right back. Speaker 8
Tanya moment. That is a Victor moment. That's all you, bud. You you Speaker 0
think that's an accurate statement. Speaker 8
No. You're on your own island. I am not on the island. Speaker 0
two of you, we'll get through Speaker 6
this and say, oh, man. Speaker 5
We're only on episode, what, two hundred and Speaker 0
something? Tanya, don't ever change. Speaker 3
Alright. So, I mean, this this up this episode was pretty spotless. For me, the one area that I does didn't really resonate with me was, was Matt's, East Coast, scenario where at the end, where that whole crab lobster conversation, I didn't really get it. I I don't understand where, Shorzy was going with that. Speaker 5
That's just to show Shorzy when he's chirping on when he's on the ice, he's all business. He did care about the lobster, but he didn't wanna talk about it before the game. He wanted to talk about after the game. Speaker 3
No. No. I I got that. Yeah. I just don't understand the whole lobster crab nonsense. That that's Well, I'm with I'm I'm with, Speaker 5
I prefer crab over lobster. Speaker 6
I'm a lobster. He's a crab. Speaker 5
And, like, we're making it work. I mean, Speaker 3
the the I mean, that's so Speaker 5
so I'll take crab over lobster. Speaker 3
No. I think I think it had to be with that too. Yeah. It has to be I wouldn't choose. I would say lobster and crab. Like, what the hell is wrong with you? Speaker 0
I and he and he damn well knew it was lobster. Speaker 7
He he was in the He Speaker 0
was trolling. Yeah. He was trolling. Speaker 3
Yeah. He was trolling, but it was just it was just like He's just being trolling. Weird way to end an episode. Thought it was just so random. Speaker 8
Well, they were still playing games, though, were they not? Like, that was in the end Speaker 5
of their hockey games against each other. That was their that was their one game against each other. Speaker 0
That was just his weird Oh, Speaker 8
I thought they were still pissed. Speaker 0
Alright. Cool. Let's have a beer and have some food. Speaker 0
It's just Yeah. It's just I Speaker 3
get it. It was just, like, what what are you it's confused. Like, why are you ending on a con why are you trying to confuse the guy that you just you played already? Speaker 5
I wasn't confused at all. But go on. Speaker 8
There was another game. Mhmm. Speaker 3
Yeah. I just See? See? At least at least half of us here did not fully resonate. Speaker 8
hockey's played. Speaker 5
Anyway You're rating, Victor. Speaker 3
Yes. So I'll Hold on. Speaker 7
Let me let's go back to that because Speaker 7
Why would why would, the the reds stick around for four or five days? Speaker 5
Well, they have other games against the other teams. Right? Speaker 0
Yeah. They have to play So it Speaker 7
is round robin then. Right? Speaker 7
I guess. End up in the in the final? Speaker 8
When he was offering food for the lobsters to eat for the four, five days. That's why I thought there was another game, and he was just poking the bear. No. Speaker 0
He's been still running. No. He's been Speaker 3
tournament is only four, five days long. Speaker 8
I thought they were Speaker 5
Awesome says the lobster versus crab business is also really to grind in the point that he doesn't care about what people say on the ice. It's not personal. And I agree. This is just to show just like if they had gotten to a fight, they'll have beers afterwards. When he's when he's getting ready to play you, he doesn't wanna be your friend. He'll be your friend after the game. And that that was the point of that scene. Speaker 5
think that's the only point of that. Speaker 3
All that made sense, Speaker 3
point of that scene ended up being didn't didn't really make that point. It did. Scene was just more Speaker 3
It was more it was more kind of uncomfortableness. Speaker 5
No. But that was good because he Speaker 0
was walking playfulness of it. Yeah. Speaker 8
He was walking away, he'd said under his breath, but loud enough to hear, that he wanted fucking, crap. Speaker 5
Yeah. Well, I agree with him. Speaker 6
I'd probably No. He also Speaker 3
said you're a he also said, like, something loser. Yeah. Speaker 8
Yeah. You're a loo yeah. So that's why I thought they had another game with each other. Speaker 7
That's what I was thinking too. Yeah. Speaker 3
Yeah. There was nothing fun loving about it. He called them a fucking loser at the end. Speaker 0
Like He calls everyone a fucking Speaker 0
No. That's like yeah. But his love language. Yeah. It's not I'd Speaker 3
No. There's no. No. There's there's this there's what he calls sanguine and then he what he what he calls, gallant Alright. Speaker 0
Or whatever is there. Speaker 5
Agreed to disagree. Anyway, what's your rating? Speaker 3
Anyway, in spite of all of Speaker 3
most of the rest of the episode was good enough to warrant afresh. Speaker 0
how we got there? Speaker 5
What what do you give this episode? Speaker 8
I I I want my crabs in a crab cake. Speaker 8
And I want my lobster Speaker 0
In butter. Don't waste your crabs in a cake. Yeah. Speaker 3
I agree with that. Yeah. Eat it eat it natural. Speaker 8
Crabs and a crab cake. You know, I I I forgot we I didn't even talk about the seminar. And where did the webinar go? Like, are we going to get the webinar soon? Yeah. Because I really wanted to see Shorzy navigate Zoom. I wanted to see Speaker 8
I wanted to see the Speaker 5
You wanna see Shorzy's forehead or something or yeah. Speaker 8
I wanted to see the four screens. I wanted big, sexy, chirping in the background like crazy and and, like, turn your mic off when it's not your turn. And, like, I wanted the chaos. Speaker 5
We may still get that. Speaker 0
remember I think I said that too. The moment we saw that intro Mhmm. The the the when they released that earlier, I said the same thing. And if we don't get get it in the end, I'm gonna be pretty upset, but they'll find a way around it. But I Speaker 8
think that would Speaker 0
be a that would be such an amazing scene to see the floating heads. Speaker 8
Yeah. Or just the forehead. Like, you don't see anything else. Right? Mhmm. Or Speaker 0
Like, him, like, screaming on mute or something. Speaker 8
Yeah. Or just, like, maybe a little shout out to us, like, where there's a unicorn in the background. I don't know. Maybe. Just like Speaker 8
Or a squirrel with a nut. Anyways, I'm always learning something new. I may have known this, but I've forgotten it. Denver Denver omelette and, Western omelette, and Speaker 5
I I learned something new. Yeah. Speaker 8
Shout out to to teaching me, and and it wasn't sexual this time. So that was, new fun new fun knowledge. Speaker 3
Pittsburgh style and Chicago style. It's the same thing. Speaker 8
Yeah. So, this one is definitely doing it for me. It's afresh. Speaker 5
Alright. Before I get my reading, I need to rewind to the end of last episode. I messed up the one line that Gallant had in that episode. He says, uh-oh, at the end of the episode, not uh-huh. I I misread my notes, so I fucked that up. Fast forward to this episode. Speaker 0
Glad we clarified that. Speaker 5
I just wanna clarify that because I felt like right afterwards, I'm like, I'm an idiot. And and I Speaker 0
probably lost a lot of listeners. Speaker 5
I meant to to correct myself. Here's what I'm thinking. This whole season seems to be about, you know, Shorzy is is aging out of hockey. What's he gonna do next? So now we have them making a point to say that he's good with the kids, and we have a Nick making the point to say that he's good on the mic. So are we looking at for future Shorzy careers after hockey? What's he gonna do after hockey? That's interesting that they're making these points this early on and and webinars, being a public speaker too. So who knows? Maybe he'll be a motivational speaker. But I'm liking where that's going. I'm hoping though he's not, like, gonna we're not looking at a, you know, a Don Cherry story because he's good on the mic because he He's Speaker 3
already done that. Speaker 5
He shoots from the hip, just like Don Cherry, you know, did. But, anyway, this episode here that that cold open, everything about this, is afresh to me for sure. So I'm not gonna, yeah, belabor that. It's afresh. Matt? Speaker 0
Yeah. I won't drag it out. This to me was a near perfect episode. The the the flaws are so minor. It's a wildly easy fresh. Speaker 1
Who wants to set the tone, boys? He's gonna fucking set Speaker 1
This team will never lose again. Speaker 8
just wanna wake up to that. Like, don't you? Don't you just wanna wake up in the morning and hear that? I feel like it just like A Speaker 0
Jay Prince song? Speaker 5
I can make it your your, your set your tone then. There's the, unicorn background. Victor has brought it up for the first time for Shorzy season three. Thank you. PJ, pressure's off. You don't have to worry about, you know, giving it a fresh if you don't want to. What do you give this one? Speaker 7
No. I, I I've I've said it two, two or three times already. The reason that I found this podcast is to find out what I was missing. Speaker 7
And I was coming into this at a high clearance. Okay. But since we've talked it through, I'm definitely, into the fresh realm. Speaker 5
So Great. We we changed minds tonight. Minds and hearts. Speaker 0
First Tanya now, PJ. We can make anyone believe it. Speaker 5
And there's the unicorn stuffy rearing its its cute head. Alright. Let's move on to sticks, game sticks. Victor, who do you give the game stick to in this episode? Speaker 3
I gotta give the game stick to the same guy that, Sanguinet gave it to, because it it's it's Michael's all the way. You know, it starts with Michael's getting the juice from, from at the beginning, and then, you know, apparently, he was the best player on the ice, though we didn't see a single highlight of it. But so we'll as usual. Speaker 5
Well, he allowed the early goal, but then he shut them down the rest of the game. Speaker 3
Yeah. Yeah. But we never allegedly. Yeah. And and this is a common theme with him. He's gotten praise in the past for being really, really good, but all we've ever seen him is was getting scored on, especially in those games when he was getting praise. Speaker 3
thought that was pretty funny. But, no, his performance at the seminar was was incredible. And, yes, I agree that, the two numbskulls were kind of solidified, you know, gave the gave the the glue that it needed to that scene, but he he was definitely, the standout for me. Speaker 3
And, yeah, I've really enjoyed Michaels in this one. Speaker 8
Alright. Tanya. A hundred percent from the from the cold open and the love in the feels and the look in Shorzy's eyes to him talking to, to Anik and and just feeling love for his team and talking about and and keeping the the team together. And, you know, if it wasn't for him talking about the the lobsters, you know, it riled up the the the boys and, got in their heads. Right? Speaker 8
He's the one that that absolutely carried this whole episode Speaker 5
Dragged the team into the fight. Speaker 8
From beginning to end. He absolutely, hundred percent gets a game stick. Speaker 5
Sure as he gets a game stick from Tanya. Alright. I'll give a a shout out to Jory Jordan for just delivering gold as always, this time on his own, but still a lot of fun. But, I'm gonna give the game stick in this episode to Zeke. I I really loved her in this this episode. She was the perfect foil for Shorzy. They went toe to toe, and and, at every turn, she was the one who's, putting him in his place. So, yes, I'd give this one to Zeke. Matt? Speaker 0
I'm act I'm gonna agree with Tanya on this one. I think this is a really strong episode for Kiso and Shorzi bringing us different layers to him. That intro, I I loved him in. There are just so many so many great moments. So, yeah, it's definitely Shorzi. Honorable mentions to Jory and Zig because cuts were deep, and I loved them and implore them. Other big honorable mention to the, production team. I really like the the technical creation this one. What they what they delivered just made me happy. So big shout out to Buttery and all the all the team for the shots and the the camera work and everything. It just was fantastic. Speaker 5
Okay. Awesome gives the GameStick to Sean Skeen, the director. She, she loved it. So and as Jeff says, Victor's gonna give the GameStick to the PEI Atlantic lobsters, but, no, he didn't. PJ, who do you give your your GameStick to? Speaker 7
I think everybody, obviously, Shorzy, Jory, everybody, they all deserved it. I think the first these first two episodes, very subtly, my game six is gonna go to Hitchcock. I think just his little undertones and what he adds to it, have have been awesome. You know? Just by, just every everything that he's done has been has been really good and solid. Just contributed a lot. Speaker 3
he and he's willing to sit on your porch on Halloween. Speaker 0
Such a good line. Speaker 5
My favorite line from Jory, though, is, is to JJ Frankie JJ. You just know he's walking around a bad wipe. Bad wipe. Speaker 7
I love that line. Speaker 5
Anyway, alright, guys. This is great. I've got some a couple of big news items. So first first of all, starting today, which is Friday, July fifth on YouTube, a miniseries is is kicking off, that was written and produced by Joe Dolo and some of his friends, and the series is called Black to the Future. Apparently, it won a couple of festivals, and, they're releasing the first episode today. They released it at, apparently, six PM eastern. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. So, if, you know, if you want some more content, go check out. It's called Black to the Future, and it's on YouTube, and it released today. It premiered today on YouTube, the first episode. So check that out. I'll, I'll find the link to it and and and add it to the show notes, to make it easier for you to find it. Excuse me. The other news, this one here is a lot of fun. If you're looking for another podcast to listen to, you may wanna check out The Watch with Chris Ryan and Andy, Greenwald. They had, Jason Mantzoukas on, last week to sing the praises of Shorzi. Now if you don't know the name, you'll absolutely know who he is by if you see a picture of him. He's on Brooklyn Nine Nine. He's on a he's a bunch of different shows. Speaker 5
yes. He's got that crazy guy with the crazy hair. Yes. Yeah. He's he's he's great. He's hilarious. So, anyway, he loves, loves, loves Letterkenny and Shorzy. And so he came on to that podcast, and he just sang the praises for forty minutes, of Shorzy and Letterkenny. Speaker 5
Well, I've reached out. I'm I I I'm hoping to have him on. But, anyway, I wanna just play a couple of clips from this podcast. There's, like, forty minutes of him doing this, but, here's a couple. This this first one's, a bit longer, but, check it out. It's well worth a listen. Speaker 13
I love this show because it is just people roasting Speaker 13
relentlessly roasting each other in a way that the magic trick of this show is that they all then are either dancing or fighting or fucking or loving each other later. Speaker 13
You know, like, the show is so shockingly funny, so brazenly funny in a in ways that are so both absurd and harsh in the way that people are just absolutely going at each other, trash talking, all that. But then with eek in equal measure, so heartfelt. And, like, I I've I don't think I've ever cried in an episode of Letterkenny, but I cry frequently in Speaker 12
Crazy. So let's like, this is if you haven't seen it, Jason and I are gonna talk about the end of the third season and a little bit more about the details of the series in a second. So this is more of the general pitch. I will say this. I started watching it, and I was like, oh, you know what? This is like, this is kinda like Canadian early Kevin Smith. Like, these guys, like, it's a very static. Everybody sort of stands in one part of the room, and they do this pretty, like, orchestrated dialogue back and forth. And often, it'll be, like, humor out of repetition. You know? Like, it'll be, like, we're gonna repeat phrases over and over again. And, I think that the acting is incredibly good, but also, like, sometimes, intentionally stiff. You know? Like Yes. Speaker 13
Well, in a way that and I'm wondering if you in a way that my my presumption is that that stiffness comes from the fact that these guys, without a question, can are all hockey players. Speaker 12
I think so. You Right. Yeah. Speaker 13
You watch them all in wide and medium shots play hockey excellently. Speaker 13
They they are not quick cutting around. They're not, like, cutting to them after the game. You are watching these people play hockey well. Speaker 12
Yeah. So the hockey and all the stuff when they're actually playing is, like, pretty professionally shot and done. And, like, that's often where, like, the very cool and incredible music, supervision of the show comes into play where it's, like, this mix of club music, but also rap and also, like, incredible, like, classic folk songs. It's an amazing soundtrack. Speaker 13
This is a Jared Keeso hallmark. He does this all the time in Letterkenny, and he uses it to great effect here, which is he is doing visual stuff, visual storytelling stuff that is so emotionally weighted to give you like, he slows everything down. He's a big fan of grinding a scene building tension in a scene, and then grinding it into a slow mo music, heavy, big music drop. Speaker 13
And then beautifully shot. So and in Letterkenny, it's either fights because if Jared Keeso's character in Letterkenny, Wayne Yeah. Is the strongest guy in Letter Kenny. And so all the time, people wanna Speaker 13
to prove that they're stronger, but inevitably, he Speaker 6
ends up winning. Speaker 7
individual fights. Speaker 13
There's group fights. So there's all these beautifully orchestrated choreographed fight scenes in Letterkenny, hockey scenes in Shorzy, fight scenes in Shorzy, but also dancing. And, like, it's an ecstatic show Yeah. In a lot of ways. Speaker 5
So, yeah, that's, Jason Mantzoukas on the watch, hosted by, who did I say who hosted this? Chris Ryan and Andy Greenwald. And then I I I just needed to grab one more clip. This one isn't quite as long because they sing the praise of one of their favorite characters on Shorezy. I think we'll all get a kick out of this. Speaker 12
One of, honestly, the funniest things in in the last, like, five or six years is the invention of this kid, Jory Jordan, Speaker 12
does the kids' sports report and is maybe the funniest character on the show. Speaker 13
Jory Jordan, this is an iconic character. This is every time we cut into Jory Jordan's broadcast, it is nothing short of brilliant, both in the writing and the performance. Speaker 12
The performance is like this kid is like young Pacino. It's so good. There's, like, a whole thing. I I'm not even gonna spoil it. The Jory Jordan stuff is, like, honestly, where, like, my fucking soul leaves my body. Speaker 13
What I love about Jory Jordan too is, like, especially if you've been for so for years, again, like I said, Shorzy just was a joke character Yeah. On Letterkenny whose face you never saw. Right? So it's, like, very much a joke. And and Shorzy always wins. Shorzy is the bane of everybody's existence. He's a bully. He's an asshole, and he always wins. He wins every fight. And so what's so funny about the George Jordan character is that he is always getting over on Shorzy. Speaker 13
He's he's the one who's always just demolishing Shorzy on TV. It's so funny. Speaker 5
So there you go. Again, they go on like this for forty minutes. So if you wanna check it out, it's the watch. The first half of this episode, that came out this past week, they talk about, The Bear season three. So, yeah, it's sounds like a great, listen, and Jason Mantzoukas is a a he's a huge fan. I'm hoping I I reached out to his reps, so we'll see if he'll come on our little podcast or not. Speaker 0
Man, we have so much like, that guy is so funny. Yeah. Speaker 7
That one's a great comparison to Kevin Smith. Yeah. Yeah. He's exactly clerks in Canada. Speaker 7
You know? I mean Yeah. That's awesome. Speaker 3
Yeah. I'm I mean, and he's spot on. Like, Nat's office Speaker 3
Everyone is always standing at attention. And on the lines you're delivering, I don't think anybody moves your body. Speaker 0
No. Yeah. It's very stiff. Speaker 5
It's very stiff. Speaker 3
It's purposely purposefully stiff. Speaker 3
And it works in that scenario, but it's exactly that. And it's it's that kind of dialogue that's not natural. You know? That's the big the, you know, thing that people don't get today when they watch Clerks. You know? Oh, watch Clerks. It's a, you know, great classic, and then kids watch and they say, I don't get it. Yeah. And because it's they they oh, people don't really talk like that. Yes. What's your point? Speaker 3
still have to understand and appreciate the art. Exactly. And and and, obviously, Kiso and and and Tierney do the same thing, but the letter Kenny and Shorsey. But, yeah, Nat's office is is the epitome of that stiff stiff, presentation. Speaker 5
And I I I mean, I think it's lost on him a bit that, yeah, they're all hockey players first. Many of them are first time actors, so that stiffness probably is too that they're first time actors. But we'll give them that because the hockey scenes are are so well done, because they are hockey players first. This yeah. So check that out. I'll I'll throw a link to it in in the show notes. Now it's time for, everyone's favorite segment. Speaker 3
Questionable call. Speaker 5
Got a couple of calls, today. This was this first one here is from our friend Chastity in Alabama. Here we go. Speaker 2
It normally takes me a little while to get used to changes, but I'm really loving all the new sound bites and t and w five seven five expanding to haikus. All the guests do a great job, but huzzah to Kat for scoring the first guest of TPS part two and season three premiere of Shorzy. Great to hear and see you, Kat. Al can definitely wash his mouth out with his black velvet cake because I had to look up Victor's Kievsky cake, and it looks divine. I do remember you sharing the song you wrote with Pumpkin, and I can't wait to hear what Natalie does with it. Speaker 2
Now for the questionable part, Tanya has razzed people in the past for giving non freshes when the person was not in the best of moods or right mindset. If this hasn't been brought up already, I'd like to know if you, Tanya, have gone back and rewatched the last episode now that finals are done and company has come and gone. Speaker 8
I totally you totally nailed me because, yeah, I I was in a terrible, terrible mood, and my apologies. And I have rewatched it. I actually rewatched it tonight. Yes. And that whole four to six that I got educated on over the weekend, I I laughed. As soon as I as soon as four to six was was said, the first one, I was laughing. So I, yeah, that one was totally, totally, totally called. Yeah. Speaker 5
Alright. Here's the second one, from somebody somebody who sounds familiar. Speaker 14
Hey, guys. It's your buddy, Jeff, from Maine again. Al, can I get my own segment? I feel like I'm officiating you guys a lot, so we could call it keep it between the linesmen? Just a thought. It wouldn't be a questionable call segment without a whistle on Victor. Last week, he said he was disappointed at how Shorzy was acting around the boys now that Laura Moore is in his life. The boys act like the boys around the boys. When the cat's away, the mice will participate in all sorts of debauchery, over drinking, shaving heads, and maybe even giving a ski pole or two. He is Shorzy after all. I'm gonna call a five minute major on Tanya though for killing the unicorn. You get in that penalty box and you think about what you did. This was the best season premiere of the series so far in my opinion. Finally, just a quick correction on the Laura Moore episode, which is one of your best by the way. When we were up there earlier in the month, Wacky Wings in Sudbury is indeed still open. They are slated to close as the city is in the process of clearing land for the new arena project. Time for a shift change. Peace and love, guys. Speaker 3
Oh, I love that guy. Speaker 5
Yes. Thank you for calling that out. But, yeah, I wasn't sure whether they'd already closed or they were going to close, but I know that that whole downtown area is being rerenovated and and and bulldozed, sadly. But, thank you as always, Jeff, for and Victor pumping his fist because for once, it was somebody else getting called out. Tanya, do you wanna respond to any of it? Jeff says, oh, shit. I feel bad because, Chastity had just finished complaining around Oh Speaker 8
my god. Jeff, you are, like you are so well spoken, dude. You you speak your mind anytime. I love that you put me in the penalty box. I definitely deserved it. I was in a mood to say the least, and, I appreciate the love. And and and, yeah, absolutely. I I earned that penalty box, and, I have thought about it, and I and I changed my mind Speaker 5
And a good idea. Alright. That's all we have for, tonight's episode. I'm gonna go around with final comments. Victor, you're up. Speaker 3
Europe. You're up. Oh, okay. So, yeah, I'm hoping you're feeling shame right now, and that's a reference to Slap Shot. For those of you that haven't watched that movie, that's criminal. You should go and watch it. Just the first one, not not three two, three four, and whatever else they made. But the first one is classic. Speaker 3
PJ, you are, you know, an inspiration to others because you show you've shown that, you know, you can, you can come on with a one opinion, and over time, you can change that opinion. And it's okay. It's it's okay to do that. Speaker 5
He only says that because he changed his mind to agree with Victor, but, go on, Victor. Speaker 3
So so that's fantastic. And and then the other thing that I appreciate about you is that you're watching, in in a, synchronous fashion, and, I'm doing the same thing. I've only watched the first two episodes of the season. I have not blown my load. I'm I'm I'm I'm trying to keep it authentic, so I'm coming to each, week with kind of a fresh, take on things. And, and and I can be patient. And I appreciate that you can be patient as well. So, you know, kudos to you. And, fantastic to meet you and, a very interesting guy, and, hopefully, this is just the beginning of things. So, hope we see more and more of you in the future. Speaker 7
I appreciate that. Thank you. Speaker 8
Jen? I, like Victor, have not blown my load either. Speaker 8
I haven't watched any any episodes ahead. So I I'm like you, PJ. I have not, I've not done as, Al and Matt have and and watched all watched ahead. Matt, you watched ahead, didn't you not? I think you did. Speaker 0
Oh, may Yeah. You did. Speaker 5
Maybe a couple of hundred times. Yeah. Speaker 8
Yeah. You did. Yeah. So, thank you to everyone. And I'm seeing, if Tandy's changed her mind, does that mean we get a unicorn now? So Well, Speaker 5
you wanna hear it again? Speaker 8
I I feel like we should do, an a screenshot with Cat. Cat should come back on, and we should verify that Yes. At some point. Cat, my apologies to you, my friend. Yeah. When I'm in a bad mood, I should probably just Speaker 0
The damage is done. Damages. Speaker 3
You can't unreward a Stanley Cup because of an offside that you found Speaker 5
If we always agreed, it would be a boring podcast. Speaker 8
There you go. There you go. PJ, thank you so much for coming out tonight. It was a lot it was great to meet you, and, you're absolutely right. When you start breaking down the the episodes and and watching the show, from the perspective of many people's, you know, it it they there's so it's how do I put this? The there's so much more to see in the show than what you you you can't just sit and watch the show. It's not one of those shows. Like, there's so much going on, and you can watch it over and over and over again, and you'll still catch things. Speaker 5
Yeah. You'll still see something new. Speaker 8
Yeah. And, that's one thing that I've learned to appreciate about the show for sure. So, thank you so much, and, this was a lot of fun. Speaker 5
BJ, great job, bud. Great to finally meet you. I know you were a little nervous at the beginning. I hope it was fun for you. I hope we made it. Okay. Good. So thank you for coming out. You did a great job. And like like, Victor and Tanya said, we hope you you know, we see more of you at egg halls, even on the Discord. You're on you're you're a member of the Discord, but we never see you posting. So Yeah. We'd love to see you there. Thank you to Chastity and and Jeff for their questionable calls. And, Jason Mantzoukas, give me a ring. There's an email in your inbox or in your rep's inbox anyway, so we'd love to have you on. As I mentioned, I am in talks with a couple of cast well, one cast member and one crew member for for, interviews that are hopefully coming up soon. And, the first one, I already kinda let the cat out of the bag, will be a gorgeous gourd galant. The other one, I'll keep as a secret for now, but it'll be fun. And and I'm hoping to get even more on. But for now, those two, I am in talks with. So I'm looking forward to it. And also Speaker 3
And and this is a good time, also just to remind everybody about the two recent interviews that we did with, and, Camille Sullivan. You know, we spoke so much about George Jordan today. Go out and listen to those two interviews. They're fantastic. Speaker 5
Oh, and speaking of which, so Jeff, is our friend Jeff is the one who who, sent me the link to that podcast we listened to with Jason Mantugas, and he said, you should let McLean Fish know about this because they spoke about him so glowingly. So I reached out to McLean, on IG. I sent him a DM, said, hey. Have you listened to this? And he he responded saying, I have. Jared sent me the same link yesterday, and he was he was so, he loved it. He he was, so, Appreciative. Appreciative and blown away by by the the kind words that these guys were were saying about him. So there you go. I mean, these actors on the show, like, some of them are new to the acting world. So to to get this kind of feedback, that they love hearing it. Even even MacLean, who who is an actor and has been an actor and other things, yeah, he he loved hearing this, praise coming from Hollywood, basically. Just another big Hollywood star heaping praise on on everything, Jared Keeso. So there you go. Matt? Speaker 0
Yeah. Another great episode. PJ, thank you so much, man. You absolutely killed us tonight. It was so great. One once I put it together, it made me extra happy because I know you you've been around for a while. You've been listening in the background, and and I'm so glad you came out and said hello and joined the family. So welcome to the fam, my friend. We hope we hope you, stay stay in stay stay in the line site so we could see you and come out and join the after shows. And, you're you're you're just a a gem, my friend. So great to meet you. This is a fun one, and I'm looking forward to more. I have not been, as good as you two have been, and I have seen ahead. I'll just let you in on that. I do like the call out, though, that you made, and, Ten, you you elaborate a bit on on the change of perspective. I think we've all been in that same boat coming into episodes where you have one you come in with one point of view. And then throughout the course of our review, your mind can be changed. Right? I I and, often, I've just I've made comments before that are, like, in my headphones when I'm getting a better listen to some of the content that's being delivered because letter counting especially, but Shorzi two is really fast. Things happen very quickly. You can miss a lot. So when we take the time to break it down and slow it down and really understand what's going on, yeah, your perspective can a hundred percent change. So, that is a very real statement that happens here, and and I'm glad that we were able to change your mind tonight, because this was a beauty. So, Speaker 0
a great one, guys. Speaker 5
And PJ. Thank you. Speaker 7
I appreciate everybody, for for being so gentle and kind and and inviting me along. It's I was very I I was very, humbled when I got you know, when you reached out to me to ask me if I'd do this. We've got I live in a very small town, and we've got a little neighborhood pub. I could walk there in about five minutes. And in this little town of Malvern, we've probably got about ten people in that bar that watch Letterkenny Shorzy. And, you know, anytime somebody says something like, well, to be fair, all of a sudden you'll hear, to be fair. Speaker 7
god. Or we'll give each other low bones just, you know, because that's what you do. And it's it's so awesome because as I said, this such I can't believe the show the these shows aren't bigger than they are because they're such quality entertainment. Mhmm. But I guess there's a lot of people that live in this little letter Kenny, universe, bubble that, you know, maybe we're all like, well, I don't wanna say anything to anybody because it's you know, nobody knows this show. But once you find out once you say something and they're like, then you realize that people are watching this show. But, again, I appreciate the, this podcast because as I said, I do trust me. I I wish there was a better reason for me not watching ahead. It's just because I don't want to to to the show to end. I wanna keep having some several more weeks of something to look forward to. But I do. I I that's my my my routine is I I watch the show, then I wait till the, the the pod the podcast comes out and I listen to it, and then I watch it again to see how I missed things. So I appreciate you guys including me, and I I I enjoy the interaction with everybody. Everybody's very friendly and kind, and so I really appreciate that. Speaker 5
Great. Thank you so much. As I mentioned before, if you wanna send in questionable calls, follow us on IG, send us a a voice DM, and I will play on play it on the episode. And yeah. And you can take us to task for a bad take, or you can praise us. Do whatever you want with it. It's our call in feature, so you guys have your say. We appreciate it. I'm gonna play us off here now with the song of the night, and that is sunshine by Nazareth. And here we go. And that's all we have for this episode. Next week, we recap and review episode three of Shorzi three, Von Kennedesi with our buddy from down under, Jack. If you'd like to support the podcast, become a patron or tell a friend. Also, follow us on most social media outlets at protosampod. Thank you for joining us. Now we're we're going to the after party with our new friend, PJ. On behalf of PJ, Matt, Tanya, Victor, and myself, thank you for listening. Have a great Speaker 7
week. Thanks, everyone. Speaker 3
But it's alright. And it's easy.
