Mats the very pleasant Victor, and joining us this week, he's relatively new actor, taking the scene by storm. You can find him in the news, see, prequel to Predator titled, pray, the TV series tribal, and the upcoming production Warriors strong. But we know and love them as sanguine at onshore Z please. Join me making some noise for Harlan. Blaine kick way hats — hey what's up gourd? I regret nothing. Welcome to the produce a Harland. Hey, what's up? How did I do, s***? How did I do with your name? Did I butcher it? Or is it okay? Um, you're actually really close. Okay, we had this closer to kite way hat. Kites wait yes it does actually really close though. It's try anyway, I am sure there's been worse attempts at there, right? Oh. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Some of those. You sound like English so it's Harlan. Okay. Or Blaine. Or what would you like to go by Harlan? Yeah, Harlan Eagle. I am saying if you want to say then Might happen by accident. Like, yeah, I am okay with it. So, thank you for joining us tonight. Harlan, first of all, where are you speaking to us from Saskatchewan? My mom Reserve. All right, so, and that's so that's where you're from. That's where you were born and grew up. Yeah, yes, more like Central. Northern Saskatchewan. We're pretty close to the Elberton border. Mmm, the kind of hugs, the Border. Sure, now, before we get to the fun stuff, there's some pretty heavy news that came out today about. I don't know if that's anywhere near you but about some more Graves found around your area. Did have you heard about this? No actually, I was wasn't even like online really out all today. I was just really on my own thing hanging out upstairs, you know? I don't know. That's kind of been my thing to try staff my phone but no, I haven't even heard of that. That's terrible. Yeah, its horrible news. But yeah, it's a question of whether maybe you'd join us tonight or not. Because if we weren't sure whether in hung close that hit two home, but we really appreciate you being here. And so you grew up in Saskatchewan. I mean, how did you get into acting? Oh wow. I never thought I would become an actor. I always liked wanted to because I am in position first, right? I always thought I was going to be like this rock star on stage and everything. But, um, you know, that was like when I was 11 to, Teen years old, I became an athlete. So like all that artist Jim died for a little bit. You know, after nothing happened with volleyball, you know, my athletic um my athletic living right? I just totally like dropped out of college like I said, you know, forget volleyball, forget school. I am just going to become a bartender and become a rock star. No, no. Okay, I am gonna rock star dream again. Well it's funny you bring that up. Let me just play a little clip here of you playing a little guitar. I mean you're more than just a little bit good. That's amazing. Damn. So that's sick. How long you been playing? Guitar, for we re still alive like every Wednesday and Saturday for like an hour and just, you know, have drinks and play guitar until Rock stories, where some inspiration on that leg. I feel almost a bit of Santana in there. Like, that's yeah, that's Eddie Van Halen here, man. It sounds great. Yeah, I love the finger Whitley Dibley stuff Eddie does. I love the Blues Licks that / doesn't of the Bendy stuff that Santana does, huh? Yeah, I will just take the guitar. Wheel and sing so beautifully. Yeah you just feel it right? It's so yeah that was all just improvise see like that backtrack we just put on a hip-hop like 135 beats per minutes backtrack or something and just you know find a cord, and we just went from there. We took turns reading amazing. So I feel like between the Letterkenny cast in The Shores, he catch you. Guys can put out probably assemble a good like all-star band. You have Ryan McDonald. We just found out as a really good. You know, bass player guitars. He's been in some really great bands you got do. Hello. You have you we know that key, so plays the drums and there's also, there's also a video of him playing guitar out there where I won't give away where you can find that. But so yeah, I mean you guys could probably, and I am sure there's more than a few good singers in the cast to Of course, like the first, I think Weekender. So when I went to Sudbury, um, the girls and I we hung out a lot and I brought my guitar, so we would just hang out in my room and have drinks watch TV, whatever we just sing. So the girls see after scary, like a lot. He's a DJ, he's a DJ. Oh, gosh it, I yeah. So I hope that you have a good experience with us today and you can maybe put in a good word with some of the female cast members because that's one thing we have. Able to get here. Yet is a female Letterkenny or Shores. He cast member and I don't know why. Like, I think we're friendly enough, I don't know. Yeah, like I haven't taken. Blair, are in the Tweed? Yeah. So they haven't, you didn't even respond anything? Yeah. But I would have been, I was a little nervous because I didn't have an intro for her anything. And I, we like to, you know, give you guys your time, like, each one of you give you guys some Spotlight time. So yeah, mention to Blair mentioned to Kalani and taste. If you talk to her we'd love to have any of them on and all of them on because, and we don't bite, we promise of course. Yeah. I will definitely mention it to them. Yeah. So how long you been playing guitar? I started when I was seven but like I said, I am from like 13 to graduation. I was kind of off and on with me, I never really focused on it as much after I got into sports, right? So you're doing a lot of the sports and listen. It did you two ever take lessons for guitar or just like self? Know, I saw my uncle playing guitar one day and I thought that was the coolest thing ever, and he taught me Smoke on the Water and order some there. That's like everyone's gasps, of course Yeah, I always thought I was meeting with that song but the older guys like everyone learned that frickin song. Yeah, it's all good. It's still a good one to bring out every once in a while. Amazing. So up until High School senior year, high school. So when does acting start, then for you. So I think I took about a year off, you know, just the kind of because you know, also covid hit like right, not long after I kind of gave up on College and what not And so it is around like 2019, I became a bartender, just here in my Reserve at our Golf Course. Like I didn't go to the big city, I didn't move to LA Vancouver and none of that nice. You don't need to know. So yeah, I got that opportunity here, Jost. Iraq and dance truck. They were the ones who came to the golf course that day. And then told Joel this kid. Has that look, you should give them a chance and I auditioned for a well, you know, I serve their table, right? They come pay for the meals. They asked if ever acted before and I told him Big Ten drama. That's it. That's, those are, those are only credits at the time and You know, he emailed me like a week later, we got connected, and he sent me an audition for Outlander that Netflix series in Scotland, right? Yeah, and I shortlisted for that. So, just between me and the character they picked for that rule. It's the Montauk five. There's like some indigenous guy in there. Forget his character named okay when they go Donner I think. But yeah. And then after that I was like, whoa, It's really like that. Like I could have just been working that quick and you know, Joel said, yeah, Harlan like do you want to keep going? And I said, let us do this. And then a year later I booked tribal that following somewhere book, pray. And then during pray, that's when I book Shore Z while I was filming grapes. Let us not go through that too quickly, because that's incredible. That's incredible. So, we will talk about tribal first, it's a Canadian series. You want to talk a little bit about what that is. You had one episode on that, and that was your first kind of break on television, right? Yeah, that was my very first gig. So like I didn't Audition for Jonas audition for a different character. And so they offer Jonas to me because like, the character had issued for was some like, you know, older rugged-looking man. Right. And I look like a little boy. Yeah. Little baby faced. Yeah. And so yeah. So they thought I would be perfect for Jonas because that episode was coming up next anyways. And, so I booked Jonas, and I am flying out to Calgary think Like less than a week later and, you know, of course, I have to spend 10 days in quarantine, right, and only two days of shooting, that's all. Yeah, it was, it was pretty it got pretty sad, pretty quick because, you know, I couldn't even go outside, like, to before a cigarette or anything. I have to stay in my room. Yeah. But, you know, at least I got my lines down. So, how did you? So we're regarding the lines. How did you sense acting wasn't necessarily part of Are, you know, dream, when you were younger, how did you find that, you know, being able to memorize lines and deliver them without, you know, without looking at your notes, um, to be honest, I like to watch, like a lot of YouTube videos on actors and, like, directors, talking about actors. And I just take from there. Now, it's I just like, oh, that's what they do. Like, all cats and also wasn't something like, I tried to purposely keep in my mind, like, because keep in mind, I didn't want to become an actor. I want it to be this big hot shot. Rockstar right? So title like the city, they just stuck at the back of my mind. And that's how I just like, oh yeah, this is how this actor, did it? Like, okay, well I am gonna do it like that. Well, is there anything you can't learn from YouTube? I mean, seriously. Yeah, for real and like, I don't have a specific memorization, route plan thing. Sometimes I read the whole script and like go from there and read the whole scene and go from there instead of just like memorizing where my lines are because I find it best to understand this scene rather than just know Lines, you know, of course checks and you can anticipate what's coming and know how to react a little bit better. Yeah. Well, yeah, exactly. In a be more authentic to, like you. And if you mess up your line, at least it's a little close to what the line is. Doesn't matter. It feels real. It feels there. Yeah so the new book prey which is a prequel to The Predator movie. Which holy crap. Like that's your second Jarred amazing. Oh yeah. It's crazy because to me It was, yeah, it was called skulls in the working title. Right? Really. And I thought it was just some like period piece for did you? Miss. people, right? Comanche Warriors running just said like in the side to side just creature in the bushes, and I was like, oh I was like okay we're obviously fighting some animal in this scene and like, you know, it was a scene where I do and how they are tied up in the blank blades. Yeah, that's the scene I auditioned with And so, you know, I do that scene, I get a callback for I got a call back from the same character actually auditioned for topic. It is between me and Dakota beavers for that role. Okay, yeah and so like, call back after call back, I meet with the director on Zoom with Jean. I think Marty Friedman was there's like a bunch of people on Zoom, right? And then I get the call back to go to La for a screen testing. And that's when I first met Dakota beavers who, you know, Place table a, a midnight dreary who booked NADA, she's amazing. Oh she's awesome. She is awesome. And also a little like I don't know if anyone knew this but Quan arose actually. Also, addition for Naughty the model. Okay. Yeah, quantity, chasing horse. Yeah, she also auditioned for now, I do so quite a chasing horse and I were paired up like most of the time and Amber and Dakota got paired up. Up like, you know, of course Amber and I had her seams together Dakota and quanta had these scenes but um I guess Disney just thought Amber and Dakota where the best pair for that. And so I said okay cool. Like hey, like I only found out this is the freaking fifth part of the film. Like a couple days before I came to La. Well, I mean, were you familiar with Predator? Like oh yeah. Oh yeah, you know the Predator films like my motion. He loves our knee and so like it was so hard. Not my mushroom is Grandpa and I am sorry. No, no, please. And like I just started not to tell him. I was like, yeah, I am gonna go shoot this movie. It's the sci-fi film. That's all I could say. You know. Oh you can tell him that. Yeah, yeah. Like congrats on that like that was I watch and I have always been a predator fan. So when I first saw the pretty my kid this is an interesting take and then I watched it and what a fantastic addition to that series and I mean I was nerdy were just watching it and then even now you were in I am like that. That's so cool man. Like that's such an iconic like Anthology in film to be a part of something like that, — that must have been a pretty awesome experience. It was awesome. We spent one month to boot camp and actually I am you know, we didn't even get like some big extravagant gym with like, a swimming pool in like a Tracker like weight rooms anything. We just got an old storage facility with like cement floors and so, like, you know, I understand. Yeah, so like that. That's that was fun for a whole month to be running around on that. And, you know, since I am so smart and well, I am dedicated I didn't wear gym shoes for like the first three weeks. I wore my moccasins instead. Oh God f*** tape on your marketing's. Yeah. Like I wore them. Not sure that duct tape is authentic. No it's not period. No, that's supposed to be on there. It's not holding anything together. Actually, there is a tear on the side on one of these somewhere. Oh, yeah, right there. Look at that, see work nor those things. Well, oh, yeah, so next, yeah. So, yeah. Months of boot camp and then three months of filming, which was cool man. And we're been the shot, um, by Calgary like more mostly on the reservations, Estonian Dakota reservation. So I am out. Like for territory there are some places where we like we even shared. Yeah, we shared a couple of them seen locations where they shot the first opening scene liver in the Revenant. Oh and then on our way to, you know, the scene where I do the show, before we get to that set just in the bushes off to the left, there's a house on Wheels set in their like, you know, the k for Tommy's or whatever. Yeah, we tried to sneak in there. Few times we got in trouble. It's a heck of a first major motion picture to be part of a parent, so I read it up on it and make it made history as being the first film dubbed in Comanche and the first film to Premiere in the native language alongside an English version as well. So that's pretty cool. Yeah, yeah. Like magic card was hard to learn. I was going to say so your language like you're Crea right? I think I read somewhere you. So in terms of like similarities with the language, what? I mean, how similar are they in? Okay, this is where I got really lucky. So like the Comanche and Cree language is actually sound a lot alike, not like with the words but with them how it's pronounced. We emphasize like the back half of our words so if I were to say hello and Cree, it's, that's it, that's it. I would emphasize that back half. I don't say, I don't know how to say hello in Comanche. What do I say? Comanche in the movie to mock Koopa Booyah Kahan wakey, get to Eatin. So, like, I emphasize back, that's just me saying, you know, align it to Puig, the word she's sending us out to get him. I see it very first scene in a movie. So guys. So, I mean, that isn't like, that's really lucky. It's really close. Like, yeah, I even told that I like coordinator like that. Like, why are you getting so good? I was like, well, like, it sounds so much, like Curry and I don't speak fluent Korean speak. Just enough to understand it, right? Yeah. Well that blows my mind. Then that not only are you learning lines. You're learning lines in the language that you don't. Even understand which how do you do that? Like is that is it kind of like learning song lyrics or something? You just kind of repetition and yeah, exactly and then when you do, when you get to the, when you get to like to the ATR Studio to do a voice over in them, they have someone there. And then when you say it they tell you like oh you're really close to just do this, just do this and then okay, you got it. So most that was good is most of it is a Dr. Then afterwards. Yeah, yeah. Most, yeah, most of my Comanche scenes were all 80. Are all of them relate ER I didn't see Comanche at all in the movie Just Amber and Dakota? And them did for a little bit. Yeah. Interesting. Wow. Before we get move onto Shore. Z just want to talk a little bit about this upcoming production that you're in called Warriors strong. What if anything, can you tell us about that? Um, well, she's like, the, the description of it already says enough. I play Russell, he play. He's the captain of the basketball team. Um, an indie film. Yeah, there's some X high school player. He goes and makes it pro comes back home to like coach us little league boys. Um, That's pretty much like the movie. Nothing besides me saying I am the captain and I have the best friend in there. That's right. I mean, the most notable thing about this movie that I saw, was one of your co-actors is Andrew Dice, Clay. Now, oh, man how much time first off you, have you shot his, the film been shot already. Like, is it in post-production? It were, well, yeah, now I got back like end of August. Okay. So, what was it? Like acting across from Andrew Dice, Clay! Ha speechless. It was hard. Oh, okay, speechless. But not like in a good sense. He had personally. Okay, fair enough, I don't know how the other actors are crew members felt. I don't want to speak on their behalf, but at one point, I did have to ask the Ada guy, can you please ask Andrew to learn his lines? Today. Oh wow. I want to get some of the day today. I want to make a movie. Yeah, I don't want it to last me through and Andrew Dice, Clay stand-up show. You know, he's quite as it was a lot of improvisation. There was a lot of improv from him and threw us off. I am like, that's not in the yeah, whatever. He's still doing that it. Yeah. That's funny. A couple other notable names, the one that I am not crew for. If you're a Letterkenny fan anyway, we had Jordan Johnson Hines who plays Fisk Eon, Letterkenny. Did you know him before that and yeah, okay, no, no, I didn't know him before that actually was so happy when I found out he was casted in that movie. Okay? And Dylan, cook our buddy, we have had him on the produce stand who plays / on Letterkenny was also there. So did you know him before the movie? No, I did not know, I am neither, but we well like connected. That's my brother. Yeah, that's my brother from another mother, right? Yeah, amazing. So you say that it was on this movie wasn't sorry. Not because of this mood because I pray that you got cast for suresies. So let us talk about that. How do you get involved in Shore Z? Well, what sure is he I didn't like get like an offer for it. Like, it was just another audition and, you know, since I am so smart. Sure, Z on the sides, and I was like sure Z. I was like, I don't know what this is but screw it. Let us do it. And then you know, when I submitted it and got a call back, right? It was actually a call back right away to meet with key so, and tyranny. Wow, I was like, touristy. I am like, holy crap. I call you put it together, you hadn't connected to two, and then these guys at 9 AM tomorrow. Like, what? And so, I freak out, right? Sure. It's like the rest of the evening. Like Going to go have a drink and beer with my friends, and I am just shaking. Like why are you shaking Bros? Like dude, I just got this audition. I don't know if I could talk about it, but I am meeting a smaller baby. Wow! And then you know, there's like a few drinks that I would like, I show them like, hey guys, like look at this character on YouTube. I pull up. Best assure. See compilation. Yeah, I am like him. That's amazing. You know. Next morning I meet with Keystone tyranny things. Went awesome. Do you know a couple of like they gave him I sang on it? Things. Like At first, I was trying to do this way thing. They like, I will keep more still, you know, more Letterkenny and I did right? Okay. Interesting and everything. Went everything went great. Everything went awesome. You know. I met key, somet tyranny. Like you know Glenn's my favorite freakin character from Letterkenny. So right? See, Jacob was just using a serious kind of Star Struck in the moment as well, really? I am just like, what else? Oh, I am here for an audition. I have to like, yeah, right, you have to keep it professional. So, let us go to every second. So when you like, even you said, you didn't put it together right away? But when you found out this show, was a spinoff about Shore Z and you said, here's your buddies. This is whose Shores is what was your initial reaction, like, how are they going to do? Is like, we keep saying, how would they have thought to do a spin-off assures and it turned out amazing. But like, what was your initial reaction when you heard? No, I seriously thought it was gonna be like the Letterkenny format as well, right? Okay, you know, a lot of just us standing in place and you know, Hands In Pockets or something. Yeah. Like fluidity if you will but the scenes. So were you familiar with Letterkenny been before? Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Oh yeah, I was. And the funny thing is, the one thing I really love to tell people. I didn't start watching. Letterkenny, like, from season 1, episode 1, my uncle, he was like, Hey, you ever hear of the show is called, Letterkenny this character on there. She says, it's codon is students, right? I am like, oh cool. And then you know instead of like looking for that episode, he just like here come check out this video and the video. So he pulls up on YouTube is the best of Shores, he compilation. So that was my very first taste of letter quani was, what is he? I know, right. That's, and now I am playing his best friend. Like, how does that happen? That's amazing. That's great Delight. So you mentioned, Tanis can a teal horn, and she's a producer on the show, right? She does. What's her role on shores yet? She does kind of like Consulting, right? For the, like Consulting with Us indigenous actors. Yeah, like had a she was that bridge, right? Like kind of, like, I don't want to say hi to adjust us because that sounds the meaning, but just how to like, go about it with making things normal, right? Set of like, I haven't like, push a message out like just so, you know, you can also see, it's, he played a big part in sanguine. S. Look, it was her like, if someone at the braids, only told him gifts at The Medallion, you know? So, So give all the love to deal for saying when that's look interesting because it's all even with even one letter can either is a lot of Articles and things about their around indigenous done, right? And represented really well with in these series did, would you agree with that? Like, what's the general Vibe amongst family friends people that you're that, you know, that talk and watch the show? They did it so. Well, like I said, it's not some big thing, like it's not there, all these people were like there was a big Dennis side and now the simulated Colonize, you know, they don't say that s***. Yeah, they say like, oh, hey, they're still here walking the same streets. We do, you know, waving at the same people I do and that's, that's how it should be. Yeah, it's no big deal. Yeah, it should be no big deal. And yeah, exactly. Hmm, amazing. Yeah, did you get so good? When you got to meet her? I am assuming you have met her in person where you Starstruck with her as well? I would have been yes. Yeah, Tanis because, you know, after I like officially went back to like watch Kenny. Yeah. I am like antique because I call it Auntie deal real life. Like so like that is really cool. Like this is this code and like she made this code and stupidest thing more viral more like trendy instead of just like how we knew it on Facebook, picture of some guy posing like this so dinner I mean as a result of there's like Letterkenny there's reservation dogs. There's you know, all these He's all this new indigenous representation in some really popular shows, like, how is that? How are you, how do you feel about that? Like how is that being reacted to among you and your friends and family? Um, like between me and my like friends here from home as like my friends from home are a lot different from like my acting friends. Like, I don't know. Phil really click. Well, sure, my friends from home, we all really like all of it, you know, we quote Thing from everything because its indigenous representation. That's funny, right? And it's funny because it's not just like cater to one specific group of indigenous people. Yes like all of us, all of us know what's going in is and that's not like here. I thought it was something I started here in Canada but it might have started in the state's, you know, I don't know that and I think it's all great because it's very quotable stuff. Nothing really like really slaps us across the face. Some sort of some Jabs at the heart but that's okay, you know. Chris, which makes us feel human still? Yeah, yeah, I mean, what I see, I love how they don't, they don't try to translate it, they just say it's golden. And if you don't know what you're going to look it up or else you're going to miss out on the Joker. Whatever. Yeah, exactly. You don't know. You don't know. Yeah. You now and then people listen to podcasts like ours to find out what it all means. And yep. Yeah. So that means let us fight. Now he's gotten to it yet. Thanks her up. I love it. Okay, so short, is it you get on this set and I mean, the set is primarily, I mean, you have some seasoned actors and mostly the female cast seem to be the seasoned actors. But then you have a bunch of hockey players who are acting for the first time and you which I mean this is only your what third, you know acting job. Yeah. How was that on set? Well, how was it? Dammit Dynamics there. Um, well at first, it was a little slow for me to get used to the hockey players because that's like I said before at the beginning I found myself hanging out with the girls at first a lot more than dudes, right? Because that I am a sports guy, but I am not really much of a hotkey fanatic. Yeah. So I see a lot of people are lot of people freak out when I tell them that. Yeah. And these guys are like full-on hockey. Jocks like that and it was a real. They're the real deal. Yeah. And like that's a thing to. I couldn't stay in conversations with them because it was always. Oh hey. So 103 played against these guys. How is this guy? Oh hey and O2 and this is the in the preseason 2010 that was this guy. I am like, yeah, you don't know any of that. Yeah, but that's more. That's Mark. Has a your age? That's probably enough. Probably kids younger than me. Then right? Yeah and her that I am gonna defend you on Victor's. Comic is I don't I would know either like I am not a big Sports guy win, and I am not even a big hockey. Gotta go watch it but I wouldn't know most of what their side I want to. I would be just as lost. I do watch ocular like right now, I am hopping on. Well I don't know if he was actually been doing fairly decent this season which actually surprised me, I gave up on them. Yeah. So they're your adoptive team, the connects? Yeah, the Canucks. But I was thinking about hopping on the Vegas way again. Oh, Oh well, that would bring get a couple of years ago, but don't you will have more awesome. So what we're coming at some of your favorite moments or scenes during the shores of shoot, there's that one scene where I think Jared's talking to Heart Rose. He's talking to Laura more. Hmm. And I call him and I say, come here are, you know grab the gyms. Oh yeah you got them. Yeah. Scene. Yeah, so we did that take, and we thought we had it, right? We're like that's the one. Perfect Kisa reaches in his pocket, you know, because we have to wear masks and stuff. He can't find his mask and here he was wearing it, the whole take. None of us, people, nobody knows all of a sudden. He's just like even like. Look at each other to and all this stuff. Nobody noticed. We do the scene and then, you know, we get that we get to take and just like, man. That's, that's hilarious. So, talk to me about like the physical humor between you and key. So like was it was the chemistry with you to Onset pretty immediate. Or did you guys have to find your groove and a second part of that? How did you stay in character with all the nonsense? Like when he's reaching over and grabbing you or like are there? He's ripping insults at you like it's So amazing to watch, but I would have a real hard time holding that out through those scenes you guys do it. So we will talk to me about you and Keystone the relationship on set. So like our relationship was actually really good. It was like, it was a lot like an older brother younger brother Dynamic, which is, you know, something I have never had since I am the eldest brother and my family, okay? But I do have older sibling or an older cousins and like uncles and you know my grandpa So like I got it, I got The Vibes right away. Like all right, I am I am learning from him. So that's why you see like, in I purposely did that but as saying when it I put my hands in my pocket just like shows he does. Yeah, like I just did really looking up to him. Yeah. Like I am looking up to him. Not only as saying that but as Harlan, like, I like that, not literally but figuratively because looking up at me. So knowing that, I mean, you're not the biggest hockey fan, not Fan like you're a fan but I mean in terms of like knowing your hockey, did you try then to relate more to Jared with the music since you're a musician and Jared was a musician? Is that how you kind of related to him? Yeah. Yeah we definitely talked about our favorite bands that we talked about like the type of styles we play like me. Like I like all types of music like if there's even housed music that I listen to not just got but my favorite genres Rock and like key. So like there's his Avenue. Like, in the way he plays his jobs. Like, yeah, that's how we talk about. And you know, of course, when the boys would be around, they would like take as attention and then the whole hockey, talk would start up again, and then you go join the girls. Yeah, go run away to the girls. I go hide under the heels but I feel like you got the better end of that deal. I tend to agree. So I have got a few, not a few, got a bunch when we told our listeners that you're coming on. I asked if they had any questions, so we have a few questions from her. Listeners. So some of these will be kind of repetitive, but Adrian asks, did you get to keep your wardrobe? Um, no. No, no wait. Hold on. I got you acquired by some means somehow, but, uh, I still have saying one that's bracelets. Oh no. Oh sweet. Do they know? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They just said to try to make sure you keep them for season. Two is perfect. We go our buddy, Don wants to know how much of the shores he's saying, or backstory was given explain to him to build his characters interaction on if any at all. So, yeah, up front, how much did you know about the story or are you giving scripts as you shoot him? Or how does that work? How did this go again? Because I know we had a character like Zoom sit down. I am pretty sure. Okay. Like you know, I sat down, keep selling them again, and they're like ours. This is how, you know, this is deal with say, I am pretty sure that's how it went that. I might be thinking that wrong. But yeah, because I remember asking Jacob, and I am like, hey, you know, since saying, when it's like and like a res boy, it seems like, like, in his, if he's going to be speaking slang in the show, like, can he be Cree? Because I know Kris slang. Yeah, because I imagine they make. Um, Ojibwe or something right? Since he's from Ontario. Oh, I see. Yeah. But they said, they said, oh yeah, he can be creepy. Yep. Saying when that's Creek, I am okay. Perfect. That just makes it easier for me, right? But all right, even though I didn't have to speak much like slang in the show just English but hmm. Yeah, I wasn't really given know like you know, nothing like he's an adopted boy from a family or like he comes from a single mother, you know, nothing like that wasn't giving those story like that. Like, I can create that myself Shirin to. I mean, hopefully you get some of that back story because hopefully stores ego On for 10 seasons because we loved season one like we absolutely loved it sanguine. Net is an interesting name. Like any is there any backstory to that name? How they arrived at that name? Do you know? Okay so um I didn't look into this a fan told me okay that's a one-out is a French name for my French explorer. All right but for a Trapper I think our hunter or Soldier one of those things just okay French my, so we should look up our history, and we will find out. The Roots could have been like yeah I didn't feel like it was a really big paragraph when he sent it to me. Yeah. There's even a Street Montreal. Sanguine it like they will look posted a story one. Time thing, what happened? Okay, well, there you go. Or something saying when it Avenue or something. That's amazing. Awesome. So, Adrian also asks, how you landed into acting and you have already obviously covered that Joey wants to know how it felt to be gawked at by migue. Did you have a lot of fun with those scenes with you and Clay me? There is a lot of times when I was just looking at the camera. Oh yeah. But there was yeah, that was yeah, it's fun. I really like those little moments because it made it more real, right? Like if I got shot as Harlan, then it would play as saying when I am getting shy from me one, which would usually the case. Are you holding the, let us expand a bit? So watching it back then when you see those cuts, did you Feel the love, like we all felt alone? There's that quick one. You know, I go well, you know, when I am sure he's like, oh shoot, wait, she is the hottest sister or something like that? I appreciate this. Yeah, but then I go well, you know, really there, I see it only because of what, like the camera operator and the director was still at Harlan. I like that moment. What you did with your eyes, like I like that real quick? Yeah, it's so good. Awesome, I Joey also and this is a great question. Any surprise? That you something you didn't know about hockey, culture, that maybe you learned to be on this set. Okay. Um-hmm, hockey culture like are you learning these lessons of saying with saying when that's learning them? Like when Shores, he's saying, you know, I can call you an a****** because we're teammates were brothers and but I will go to the wall for you kind of thing is that, you know? Yeah, yeah. It would be before the Seas. That ask you. So, hey, what's this mean it with all this is, it's just this about, okay, cool? Because I literally did not know what any of that was sure. So yeah I like learning it on the day. Yeah. Right. Before we shoot this scene I am like okay so that's weird but okay let us do this Tobias asked about teal horns role on the set and you kind of covered that. Do you have any fun stories about going to do on the set or which even on the setter or is it more like a you know we call it like the village, you know where the like monitors and cameras all set up for the directors and whatnots it, right? That's where he is. Most of the time. Yeah. She's just like you know coming like ask us. Hey, you guys need anything from Craft or you guys good. You guys like warm? So yeah, those are like my favorite moments with their onset. Like, you know, she's just not to do. Yeah. She's just being your auntie there. Yeah, that's great. Yeah. Awesome. As if you play hockey. So we know did you can you skate? Yeah I can skate. You can skate but just a the ftca with a stick. I just can't. You know do that finesse stuff? Escape that one lane like oh, it's side with the f***. Would I do that? Okay. But can you, do it? Can you do a hockey, stop? That was a hockey star. Yeah, yes, yes. Okay yeah. So it's a regular stop all hockey players called a hockey stop. They just took it really is so that I just learned that today and I learn something new where you throw snow at. Pretty sure Victor's, making that up. Awesome. Also, wants to know that one of her friends wants you to know that she named her cat after saying, when that so yeah. Yeah, yeah. Those being the immediate right Explorer segment, I am not the coach our listener. Awesome. She's our friend, she's also an on moderator on the Letterkenny Aunt, Rosie subreddits, and those are. I don't know if you know about those, but they're massive. There's like 250,000 members of the Letterkenny subreddit and I, but around 20,000 members of the shore Z sub Reddit, and she just recently, did an AMA ask me anything with Terry Ryan and do low, and Oh, and Max bouffard, and she was wondering if you would be interested in doing one as well. Yeah. How did those even work. So I think it's just there's like a date and time when you're going to go on Reddit and aunts answer as many questions like within an hour or something like that. I think that's how that works. So you like there's an hour when you just have to answer questions. You don't have to answer all of them, obviously if people are asking ridiculous. Ridiculous question is written questions and you ride your responses in writing as See fit. Yeah, okay, yeah, because I saw that, and I was wondering like, how did they do that? Like you because Dylan talk to me about that too, and I am shooting Warrior charm. Okay. I was like, I don't know how to do that. Yeah. Well we will also and walk you through all that. Yeah, we will hook you up with awesome, and then she can set you up for that if you're game. Yeah. Yeah excellent. Yeah. I mean you're gonna have to get used to especially being on prey. I feel like you're going to be on the Comic-Con circuit. If, you know if you haven't been asked already I really wish I got to go to the Past comment on a lot of us. Actors were a little disappointed on that. Oh yeah. I think you will get an opportunity. Yeah hopefully four rings of power if I get an audition for that. Yeah, wow as yeah, I have the weapons training so perfect my house, right track. Oh love it. Our friend, Erin. She asks how often like when you're out in public, do you get just random people coming up to you saying, shut the f****** sanguinetti? Okay. When I am out east in Canada, okay? Like I can't go like five feet without you know even people like driving by really good West where I am from it rarely happens, like humans like the most happen in one day was twice speak like people like hey I recognize you it's not like sanguinetti you know. Yeah out west I am not really that known but at least it's so pretty wild, do you? Have a canned response yet to. So when a total stranger says, shut the f****** saying when it is there something I say? I wish someone had said something quicker because he does have response. You can't tell your coach shut the f******. All right. But that's so that's too long to say especially if someone's driving by. Yeah, I just, I just say, hey, that's yeah. They say that in the show. Yeah. Yeah. Us if you're Starstruck by any of the cast when you met them. So, I mean you already talked about meeting Jared and Jacob for the first time. But was there anybody else on that set that were? You're like, whoa, I am thinking across from this person. Oh man, no, so I was out for a smoke this one night and you know, I was listening to music and I saw someone approaching me right as you know a fairly it like as a referee or not rough for a little sketchy part of Sudbury. And, so I was like s***, man. Like, you know, I got Like all right you know f*** it. If this guy's gonna come up and start s*** if I could say like start putting my headphones away, right? I started like talking on my cigarette a little more aggressively because he knows like what guys like getting silly are like the stars like he's coming right for me. Are you like skoda? Yeah exactly. Like my headphones are away my phone stuck to my pocket? F*** it. Let us go. But um I look and it's Jonathan Torrance. Oh no. I look I am like whoa. I look forward again. Take a drag. Hey, you know, I like hey are you with production? I am like yeah. I go saying winnette and then you know, I am trying to. Yeah, be calm. Sure. I had to do this like right in front of them, have to be like, yeah, that's f****** no dick. Right in front of you. Right? There is no — j-roc my man Iraq. Yeah, Roc, amazing. Aaron wants to know, Aaron wants to know if you what's the best piece of advice you have been given on set? You know, by another actor, Maybe Mmm, the best advice isn't from an actor? There's actually four. My very first director. It's Ronnie Scott from tribal. Okay, give me three pointers because I told him I was like, yo, man, this is my very first gig like I am nervous. I had never acted before. Like, any told me Harlan, don't worry about it. This first scene is simple, you're not going to talk or anything. You just run or not running, you're walking, if you see the episode, it's the opening scene of the episode, okay? But he told me, there are three rules as an actor, Learn your lines, be on time and hit your marks. If you got all three of those are already like top a 2% top actors out there. It's that simple. There you go. I feel like there is no need for this big. You know speeches at some actors. Sometimes Give just short and sweet like a bartender. You know, when I say they sell you on a drink or a meal, that's how I think it should be. It should be great to the point. Yeah. If it grabs the at grabs, if it doesn't Whatever dude have you ever been to Wasaga Beach? No all the fantasies gone I was into slavery instead Briana how far that was from both of those places. Well we will say good gracious about four hours south of Sudbury where it's like we're an hour away. We go to Sun was setting all the time so it's okay. It's not. So it is like it would have been a little dry. I have been a try like a tower. This is stories told about was s. Totally check out. Yeah, it's a special place. Yeah, Ryan wants to know how long did it take for you to film the scene cramming? All the s**** into your Jeep. Imagine they tried to make that one quick. Oh, wow. It was hard because all of us are like over 6 foot, right? Yeah. And so, like you had yeah, dolo sitting behind the low and Terry sitting behind me. So I feel like crammed up to the wheel, right? So when I was driving like it looked like that from the side but like from this side and looked like you know fairly normal or whatever. Yeah and so you know then you had good eater Rosie and then goody behind Max you know, Max having to like push Jared and goodie bags, like I don't know. What is it was her almost Camden has a couple of times we're like good, you have to like, sit up and close the door, and he like was just awkwardly propped up. That is yeah, it was fun. Yeah, Casey has a great question. Tell us something, not many people know about you or may be surprised to learn about you. Hmm. We already know you're great guitarist. I was going to say that thing will have a toy collection of Power Rangers. Power Rangers Zeo you don't your we did you wish to be a Power Ranger when you're a kid. There was another Letterkenny cast member who I think confided in us that he wanted to be a Power Ranger. I forget who it was now. Probably right? Probably Ryan. I can't remember now. But when he said, let it can, yeah, there's a lot of (Kenny) might do remember That I remember who it was though. Oh my God. But yeah. You're pulling it out now, aren't you? Whoa, nice. Nice Harlan. Just pulled out a Power Rangers mask. That's our helmet. Yeah, that's awesome. So which series of that? That looks like I am, aren't I? That's the. Oh, gee. All right. So it's Jason. Yep. Jason Jay Lee, listen Rock listen to you with the names. Holy, you know, watch power, come on. No I didn't. Nice little Michael Power Rangers. Yeah, I actually just started finish watching ninja start this morning. That's the truth. That's the truth. Yeah, it's good to keep staying young. Yeah, question for anyone involved with Shores e that comes on dog house or townhouse, okay. So when you guys are shooting, we learned this from the other s**** as well because it was during a covid. You guys didn't have a lot of nights where you're going out to the bar or anything like that. Right. But what did you spend? A lot of time. Will you say you spend a lot of time with a female cast members? The other guys seem to spend a lot of time at, Max bouffard status. But did you get out at all when you're in Sudbury? Um, you're so when Max and I would talk about his place, all of us went, right? Okay. Even deal came with us a couple of times 1/x, which is awesome. I think I remember seeing Jacob there once, really. Yeah, I am mad at Max is basement, right? That's how he. Oh, yeah, you know, I wasn't even with the party. I was supposed that piano just. There you go, you play the piano. That's another something we didn't know but I saw oh yeah, yeah but yeah, it was always just together at Max's or just at the hotel room taking down the fourth floor, you know? So you may not have an answer for this for the wing sauce that you get at Wacky Wings. Did you guys ever go there in Sudbury? I was ordered to their kids Kisa said that the best things that I was just get like the Buffalo mi because I like spicy food. I like spicy food. Sorry. There you go, Joey. So the Buffalo mild is what he got. Let us see, a couple more here to your knowledge, how much as short as he does key, so have written at. Okay, so yeah, when you guys started production, like, is the script finalized or is there like wiggling, it was always, like there was always revisions coming in. So I don't even know if you like has a lot more done, right? So he's kind of writing the story is, you guys are going. Yeah, making tweaks here and there. Sure they go. I think this is a funnier this would make more sense. You know, does how do the experience of filming Shore Z compared with prey? It was a lot shorter and it was a lot less taxing on the body. Well, even though I ended up in the hospital insurers, see what? Oh, I am pretty sure there's a story about that story. So, you know, the fight scene where I pull up in the Jeep and the boys are fighting in the alleyway. Yeah. And if you notice, when it cuts on me, all of a sudden, it's snowing like, really hard because we shot that scene like two weeks later because in the original scene, I jump in our run into the fight. And you know, the guy says like you looking for someone, right? You know, to sing when it in the club, he picks me up and like he Twirls this way and like he releases me and I just, you know, kind of like stumble off camera or whatever. Yeah. And so like there's this in our like I thought it was a take that we did but I guess it was just like a final rehearsal on there was like a minor little like switch up that happen. Like I am going to do this instead. And so we shot. Well we didn't shoot the scene, we rehearse, the scene and so now I get picked up thrown off to the side. But it's weird because every other take it was good like I landed right by want to the wall. Like I stopped myself for the wall but this one take lost my footing. I don't know if it is from the release or from the quick little switch up that they did. But yeah, I fell on my tailbone on the pavement. Oh, So but hit like I am lucky with a training from pray because I was taught how to fall, right? Sure. And so when I was falling I did it. Otherwise, I would have smacked my back of the head on the cement to our the pavement. Yeah, so like when I fell, I did the trick. My head jerked a little bit, but it didn't touch the pavement. And so, I laid there and my tailbone was just badly hurt. Like they tried to straighten out my left leg, but I told him let me try to write as a coolant like don't like just Like I am hurting right now. And, so I go to the hospital and then turns out, it's like, it's bruised. He said, like, I was lucky whatever I was wearing cushion enough or however, I fell right was just a right way, but I was good, but then she's like, but for the next 25 days? No, like lunging, no, squatting no running and then you know, of course, we had that big Running Scene at the end. We were supposed to shoot that scene, that same night cause Course. Yeah of course. An of course it happens. And you know when I went to the hospital and pray, it wasn't during anything. I was legit doing what I am doing now, sitting in my casting chair. Mmm, it was outside. I was like + 40, + 45, or something outside. And this fan was blowing, you know, are at me and it just so happened to catch up a catch-up pine needle somehow and it lodges straight into my eye. Oh God goo, it went up. Up to it, didn't just let go in and 1 Cup. Oh my God. So, you know I am at first I thought eyelash right? But I could touch it because of the makeup, so I was just like blinking eyes like damn, this is a bad eyelash and my buddy comes up, he's like what's wrong with your eye? I am coordinator everyone like this is jump up, like what happened? I don't like I think it's just an eyelash like that's not an eyelash. Curler Harlot. Like coming up to me they lay me down there. Like try to flush it out. Out and like they're using like what they can write on set, just like the set medic. And like, even the Q-tips that they were using. It's like try like slowly, like get it out, we only got half of it, out the other house lock up there. Oh man. And so, 20 minutes later, I found myself on my way to can Rogues. I think, I don't know. It's some small. Like, yeah, Mountain Town by Calgary. And I am there. I am in the weight room. For three hours. And, so I am just there with a friggin eye patch, and I am turning heads because I am dressed in my prayer regalia. Hold on, people out of time, just walking through the hospital, and I know they're looking because I, yeah, you're naked whirring. Yeah, animal hides loincloth. Yeah. Like the doctor to. He's like. So is this like an everyday thing, or I am actually filming a movie but I can't say what it is, right? I know you because everything inside. You want to think I am filming the new Predator movie? Yes. Yeah. 1987, what you gave everyone in that hospital story that night? Yeah, for sure. All right, exactly, I wonder how many people say nowadays like remember that? But Indian oh man so good Harlan. You gave a you have been so generous with your time just a couple more questions, and we're you know, we will let you go. First of all, you have mentioned where we talked about the movie that's coming out this year, are, do you have any other projects you want to talk about the jerk? Not even like music projects, Okay, music. I have actually been more I have been writing songs since high school or a and you know, through the app GarageBand but I wouldn't use like their Loops or anything like, you know, only time I use the app is for the drums. For my lie, no lie with my thumbs but other than that with a guitar and stuff, I would just leave it beside my amplifier. That's like my own way of recording right now but I actually have connections in them than years City. The biggest city with Studio Saskatoon. Okay. Um I have connections with them now. To go start recording. And they already gave me like, a rape are quoted, or not a quote rate, I guess. Okay? As they told me, this is how it will be like for our and this is what we will do within that time thing or whatever. Yeah, so you know I want to do Shore Z and should I just want to do it all but music? That's the one thing like in between right now I want to really get my own music out there. Well, I know it's a little further away, but we do know a guy Montreal with the studio as well. His names do low and maybe You can go Jam. Well, we had them on the podcast, that's how we know. We will put in a good word for yours. That's amazing. So we're, we should expect some music from you in the, in, in 2023. Maybe. And then, hopefully, that would be awesome. Now, that would be ideal. That would be ideal so awesome. And like, if you want, like, for people who want to follow you, what's the best place that they can follow? You would it be Twittered, Instagram. Um, yeah, Twitter and then Instagram the that at Harlan kite way hat account. Not the Harlow underscore cat because that's my So that me and Mauro my personal friends. Yeah, all right, but yeah, it has a Twitter. One, I add H Keiko hat, I think it is. All right, we will link to it in our show notes. All right. Matt, you have any final car. You have got your final question. Yeah. And before it for azmuth, on course, I just want to say, I mean scherzer's. Fantastic man. Congrats on that. I gotta tell you and we talked about this in our podcast, all out. You were one of my absolute favorite characters throughout the entire series. He's watching your character grow and interact and develop throughout the season. It just it f****** blew me away, man. So congrats on that. Keep it up. I absolutely love it. Absolutely. No. No, my question. So I asked us to everyone that comes on. I mean, you're clearly a fan of Letterkenny now, you know, sha zhi. I don't know if you grasp the cause of how big of like a cult kind of feeling this. These shows have becoming I like world around as a Canadian, as an indigenous man. What is your feeling of being a part of something, like, Shore Z from your perspective and knowing the impact it's having in sort of across the country, because the world in this market, you know, to be honest, it's a little unreal, like, especially when I meet those fat and to act like that. I sometimes forget I am like, wow, this is the impact that not only I am having but that Letterkenny insurers, these happened because I know for a fact that more indigenous fans are Into it now because of the indigenous representation and like not just Canadian fans, American fans, like Ivan had Pete for like, Australia. UK like all? I love short, I love Letterkenny. I am like, I, it's unreal, and I really hope its Clicks in my mind really soon, how real it is, because I don't want to just like, glance over at you, like, oh man, you know, there's the good old days and I just left them. I do? Yeah, enjoy every minute. Every moment enjoys the ride, my friend. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, Victor. Do you have? Final questions. Oh yeah. Sure. A couple of first, a quick one bowl or Noble. Oh yeah, have to ask that. Yeah, when eating sticks, we asked, we asked all the s****. When you eat a stick, do you use a bowl or a noble? That's the way you do it. So, get with, this is a conversation. I know, right? The fact that he's you, that's it. The fact that you're using your hand as a bulldozer Kind of grown-ass man. Should eat an ice cream cone. That's how you do it. Not a full. Come on. Yeah. Thank you, Victor. That could be your question every time too there. There you go and my other question. So I am guitarist as well. So I am interested in like, so I don't know if you collect get to if you have a collection of guitars and if you do kind of what's your go-to and if there's just one guitar, you know, what is your guitar? Okay. So right now, My Washburn and my Ivan is our out. I don't know like the actual models of Batali. It's okay. You don't get you don't have to get nerdy about it. Yeah I just know the sound they make right. That's all that matters and I have a Gibson SG and a Yamaha. Yeah. I see what I mean. Like, I don't know. Yeah, yeah. I do too but probably be the Gibson. I love a Gibson. Okay. And what is your Washburn like? Like a Nuno Bettencourt style? Or it's like or like the guitar player from extreme or is it kind of Some like non-rock model. Um, yeah, just show you. Oh, cool. That's great for our listeners. Yeah. It's all right. Oh, that's a beauty, whatever. This model is that has a skull on it, t to get. Oh, yeah, yeah. No, that's okay, cool. That's more than all kind of. Yeah, yeah. Now that's more like a Gibson. PRS, kind of style, guitar, cut double cutaway. Now, that's really cool. Ten. Did you have any final questions? I just you're just amazing. Thank you so much for your time. How do you keep a straight face and not crack? When kisos like doing the cry thing reaching out for you and like trying out, he's trying to keep it together and you're like so straight face that like you're not breaking at all. Like I do you break. Oh, I broke so many times. Like Jared had to be like Really, you know we can see your face, right? Because I am trying to like that's novices thing. Harley know we could see your face, right? And you know, when I keep my like when I keep a straight face, I was just told myself the same thing. If you smile, you're fired too small, you're fired, you're fired. Take it to the extreme, right? That's good motivation. Yeah, I never wrong, probably what your it works, but like it's probably a little like unorthodox, but, you know, that's what I tell myself. If you mess this up, we got Harlan. You're gonna fire you. The fact that you keep It together it makes it even funnier in the scene though like it. But um, for the I keep looking for the bloopers because I want to I want people to see that. Yeah, it was actually really difficult especially Benny and Randy. Oh man, I bet. Yeah. Those would be pretty hard to both. Jonathan Torrance and Jacob journey in the same scene. Just yeah, maybe both sides. Well, told years from now. I hope they do come up with a bloopers Is that would be fantastic sooner even better. Alright Harlan. Thank you so much. You have given us an hour of your time. You have been very generous. We really appreciate it. I am going to play us off here with a song by our Buddy. Joe do loads called No discussion. There's actual poker face when it's actually in you. When there's action poker face in the bluff about 2,000, they would I get the bucket? It's my time, and I am about to make it happen. Thank you. That's all we have for this episode. Don't forget to give her a sponsor diabolical. Convey some love.
