Tonight's lineup is, how are you know, cannabis in Victor's? Not here. He was supposed to be first. He heard he was first and that's why he took off to Vegas. Tonight's lineup is going to be Al Matt Tanya and our guest Chad will have the last word, so I guess I begin our weeks. Let us see what did we do this week? Yes, this past Saturday, we went, we went to the film fest. We went to the Toronto International Film Festival and watched a movie and it was a lot of fun. It was yeah. Yeah. Saturday night and for all of you were concerned, the date was with Tania and myself. Yes it wasn't. Glad we got that figured out. We went to go see a movie called What's Love Got to Do With It. And no it's not about Tina Turner but it was really cool movie about arranged marriages and the Shakur. I forget it is last name. Anyway, a great movie and a lot of fun, I forget is lot of people would know him, he directed Elizabeth, he directed a bunch of really big movies. So this one here, I think was the first time he did a rom-com and great job like strong, cast gorgeous-looking film. And we saw that Roy Thompson Hall which for those of you who are the fan of fans of the show, The Boys is the base of vote Tower the inside. Of that Tower is actually a theater. And so that's where we watch the movie, and then the cast and director came out afterwards and watched, and did a Q&A, so really cool experience. And then, I mean, all of King Street was packed and abuzz and there's a red carpet and everything. So, it's very cool. Just to walk up and down, and try to catch a glimpse of like famous people. Yes, shekhar. Kapur, thank you very much. Aaron for that. Yeah. So we had a great time and, and yeah, I can't even think of what else to say about that and I have just been really f****** busy with work. I mean now is the beginning of my busy season with a new season of yes, we're open coming out. So I have been crazy. I haven't had time to do anything except prepare for tonight's podcast. I have been looking forward to this, so Chad can't wait to revisit Shore. Zi feels like it's been a while since we have talked Shores, you. So, thank you for coming Bud. Thank you. Thank you, ma'am. That's how was your week? We expand good just a by weakening, so I had a bit of jealousy this as well. I was going down the film television pass while so buddy of mine who was actually my roommate in college, he works for ET Canada. Oh yeah. All he's been doing is blasting photos on his Instagram all week of all the interviews. He's been sitting in on, and he's been in there with like Tyler Perry. Sir Ben Kingsley. Daniel Radcliffe says yeah. Harry Potter, right? Harry Potter. Yeah. Well I am future Weird Al yeah. Oh yeah. Weird out we're not the word movies, so he's been sitting in on these and like you f*** her like look at him just doing his thing and it's so awesome. So he and I reckon I have made a joke of once, and he and I reconnected, but we will see. But just if so fun and I have to make a note of going to, I highly recommend the experience was a lot of fun. I can't wait to go next year. We were lucky this time. I got some free passes from work, but we had such a good, like enough, fun that next year, even if I have to pee. I think we will check out a few movies so it's on my yeah. I lied. We went on Friday, not Saturday. So Friday night is when we went or know, what was Saturday, sorry, because Sunday there because there's some Letterkenny content here, son. They can, it's your horn was there to Premiere the movie she's in her and ended Kendrick Anna Kendrick's, I think and recap. And I just saw on the live stream here. That Mellie skroef Anna was also at Tiff, was it this year though? She was she had a movie called the end of sex, but I am not sure if that was this year, or, or past years, but anyway. Yeah. So there's a little bit of Letterkenny content there. And I see if you listen to Terry Ryan's podcast, he and that he was there to this weekend with his daughter, he came to Toronto to with his daughter, and they hit up some attractions like CN Tower and Wonderland, but they also ended up going to Tiff as well. So it would have been kind of funny if we'd run into very high stocking stockings diving around, that's talking Radars I know you didn't really try to stock them again this time. No, no. Because when I found out I mean it was my one trip to the city all month and there's like when I heard all kind of teal horn, Terry Ryan or at if the next day I am like, yeah, I am not going back down there. Because there were like articles written about how crazy Toronto City of Toronto was this weekend in terms of, there's like, 80 different events happening across the city. There's a bunch couple hours just to get there. Yeah, there's a bunch of road closures. Lots is consent under construction as usual, but the mainline train go train line that we would have used to go down. There was shut down for construction, all weekend. So, we had to drive down to Yorkville and then take The subway in which turn out to be the quickest way. Anyway, but had thankfully, somebody told warned me about the article because I would have tried to drive down there and it would have taken to stop three hours to get down there. We wouldn't have been able to get there. If you ever take to go again from your line, let me know and I will stand out my backyard way. Batches you go by is that the berry line that goes behind you. Yeah. If you sit on the, that's a lot of that's all a trains on that line man. That must be annoying. It's all right, but yeah, we're on the west. Westside Xtreme would love your house. And just stare at the trains that, I think I found someone who might be family or someone who should have been very close to him. One point came and bought something on my wife not too long ago, and they were sitting on the front porch. You could even see the track and a train went by. And she goes. She kind of close her eyes, and she's like, oh, that's a VIA Rail. What my hand and my I was like, no, that's GO train, she's like now that's a VIA Rail. I know the difference and was like and turn those. She Is right. But via only goes what goes by like once every 30 days, it's all GO train. So my, how the hell did you tell the difference? And she's like, I am really into trains. Oh my God. All right, I know a person, perfect, that you would be best friends with before we died. Also, live next to a train track but it's only cargo trains that go by and all those are the slow ones. Yeah but they don't Miss. Yeah, a little fun fact about Minneapolis. Big train-city lot. I am getting ready for my interview tomorrow. So I am going to like, be cutting this short today because I need sleep. This lady needs a party for Tanya tonight, I have had word salad. Which this is entire cabinet, right here is full. So I will just fill this whole thing is full Star Wars. These two shelves are full of Star Wars, right? It's a couple Star Wars. The, I tried to connect you with you a bit last week and I told you that I watched all the Lord of the Rings again. And your response is, well, was it the extended the you? And I say no immediately. He's so well, don't bore us get to the chorus Chad. Yes, let us talk about your process. Before we begin. How did you pick? I didn't you pick of God and these clips, and I picked these clips. Mmm, I have watched the show last week, Saturday. Okay. And I just typed down time stamps of scenes that I like, okay, that's it. Did you put them in a particular order or just the first? No, absolute favorite. Wow. So what I did was like, I just kind of like, you know, episode 1 name of kind of like the rough, what happened in the scene And then x times, that name would happen scene and then after that, I was like, figuring out what my favorite scenes was. And then I just I made the mistake of starting ranking them before I finish watching the series because then my whole ranky was like different by the time I was sure. I was like, nope. Nope, nope. This seems a lot better than this one involved, doesn't it? Yeah, yeah. And then I am not gonna lie. This sounds like more work than I thought you were going to do. Ya excited already. Then I it was just like, in like a paragraph with like episode 1 and then like a bullet point and then just like a DOT and just saying time, step in this and then like, in Brackets, honorable mention, or yeah, number. And then I had to like, then I am imported a tape, then I put it in a table and then I ranked it out. And then I made a nice list of honorable mentions. Say spreadsheet. Like, I just love this one because, like, Shores these face, like he's like thinking it's like something stupid, right? Like he's getting made fun of again then what it is. So like it's also fun. I like I was thinking about it like when he plays like Wayne I don't know if anybody else has noticed this and I don't know if it's actually a thing but like when he plays Wayne he's kind of like stands up a lot straighter to. Yeah. Well he's like his posture is a little bit of M different. Yeah. When he Shores is like down low. So like that's why I like It sells me out like so well because like, you know, usually you think oh, this guy's playing the same person in a different show. You gotta like, how is he going to be different? Yeah, that's old, but he is and you don't even question it. Like it's so weird because it's not like it was only like one or two seasons of Letterkenny. We're so many seasons yet, we just all hopped on board. So quickly was Shores, they go. Oh yeah, it's totally different because it's called acting. Yes, we get f****** know what it's called. We go. Hell yeah, f***. Yeah. All right. Let us see what you have for number 10, not mine number 9. I mean, one job I f****** warned you good nearly apeldoorn if you don't behave yourself, I am coming your an f****** p**** Shores. Andrew said, all right, I love that scene. And I mean, I think it's spend some time when we were first covering this episode. You know, kind of explaining the Of what chores, he did up front, they're tripping at the opposing player and telling him, I am not even, I don't even want to win this Faceoff. I am coming after you just so that the opposing player will ignore the face off. So, that shows he can win it back. Even though, Shores, he knows he's about to get cross-checked in the teeth. So, he took literally took one for the team in order to win on face off. And it was so well. Yeah. I mean pretty little you put literally put his face on the line. Yeah, exactly. Team on that one. Like a he knew what he was Doing. And, and the setup was perfect for it. Even the setup, like, where he was like telling her, like I do the word they huddled up. I didn't, I kind of didn't want to do that part because like, that's just the talking but like I said, that was just visually good. Yeah. Honestly, that's just. And, and the live chat saying to the, the music is phenomenal. And that on, that music is phenomenal. And often went with, like, hockey movies, especially this the scenes on the ice, or so chaotic. Because Such a fast game, right? And I feel like not a lot of people know how to shoot hockey properly. You know, other than an actual hockey game where it's like the camera angles are really far back. But in this case, I thought they did a really good job of showing the play that they just written up perfectly. Like I am going to win the draw, you're going to air mail it to JJ, JJ is going to be upfront, going to be ready for it and take the pass and then score the goal, and they just showed it perfectly. There is no, there's no confusion what we were. Watching whereas often in like, watching like movies, like, goon and other hockey movies, it's like the hockey is chaos, which is fine because hockey can be chaotic, it can be fast and hard hitting but it's also hard to see what's happening on the ice when you're that close up and everything's happening, right? Well, I think. Yeah, right. I think a lot of times they do Sports movies, especially things like hockey. They, they give you that up close and personal view, it's almost the trying to bring you into the chaos of what it's like being amongst it. But as a viewer, It's often hard to track, so that the seat tracking, this was brilliant, right? Yeah. Is going on you to give you enough distance so you could follow it and you loved it. I mean, and Kudos Chad, I mean you're two for two on this one. This is really good, and I am already seeing everyone out, and I am feeling the same way I am like, I am seeing multiple comments. Damn, I need to go back and re-watch Shores. They already like and yes, if this is our standard, not 10 and 9 I can't wait to see ya like plus like I think it just helps that like key so and like the whole cast is hockey players. Yeah, so they Probably gave pointers to Billy and his crew. I don't know if it's true or not, Billy can confirm but after he walked listen to this episode. But like I don't know if they gave pointers or not, but like it just seems like it was filmed by people who like, I actually understand hockey, right? Like yeah, it's one as yeah. As not a, I am not a big hockey guy. I know I live in the state of hockey. Yeah. Well, I guess it's what you're talking is like, I mean, a lot of times actors will come into things, and they will get trained or educated on what they're Thing about. Yeah, right. Where's these guys? Did the girls throwing probably, they know the plays, they know how to maneuver. They know how to move the ice thing. So that part was a given. Yeah. They just had to work with the cameras in this perspective, but the moves are authentic, right? Yes, yeah, I did. I just, I just want to even like, give key. So like kind of like, Drew up the scene, like, how he wanted it to shot. Oh yeah, no, no, I am sure Billy like. Hey, so we're going to get the screenshot of following the puck finally. Are you gonna Glide right in front of Do low as he's going down? The this is getting the pass and you're going to see Frankie yes. Come at you so interest comment from the live stream? Michelle says Gene Kelly said, always shoot the dancers legs for best effect to see their skill and Beauty similar to this scene and again, like it does. Yeah, a lot of like, again, in many movies, you do see more close-ups of hockey players, because it feels like it's too chaotic to show, you know, pulled back, but it does show theirs. And it does show, I think what the advantage that chores he has because all the actors are players, you don't get this cutting away from a like a Hollywood actor. Because either is not a very good skater and there's actually an NHL player in his place, you know, skating for him or cutting away before they take the shot because they don't know how to shoot properly. These guys all move properly. They all skate. Well, they all know how to shoot and it shows so that gives you the It gives you the advantage of being able to stay on them. Just like, you know, it was great to have Jamie Foxx play railed, Ray Charles because he could play a piano and, you know, have to cut away from his hands when he's playing that piano. Yeah. Same kind of deal. You're spot-on with that kind of talent and things like that. It's the more authentic. It can feel like the person knows what's actually. What? Yeah, it makes it. You bring you into the scene more rather than there's a lot of things you watch it. It's so obvious that they have cut away to someone else do it. It's Works. But you like you're not as connected to it. Yeah. They especially like with Oh, it's movies like these actors. Like, they probably never done this before or the other they have. In this has been, like 20 years since they have done it. Yeah. But in this one, they are like they know what they're doing. Another really great example, is, whiplash, forget the actor's name in that, but he could actually drop my. Yeah, Miles Teller Whiplash. And it's one of my favorite movies. It's not, I love great, great movie and of course, he's not as good. A drummer as was a Buddy Rich that he's trying to emulate. Yeah. But it doesn't matter. He's still looks like he belongs. I was behind a kit and you can still shoot him. Like his full body front end, but I do know. I, I watched it — oh yes, he could drum, but he did have to learn. Sure the new to the Jazz technique where the way he held the sticks, right? Yes, it's old, its old different thing I have heard such as what, if? And he has but anyway shortly. Yeah, sure. One thing I didn't comment about this scene when we did the original review, but as I watch it bagging more, I am even more impressed is from a technical perspective. What I was really loving about that is the back and forth from that ensures you there and that extremely slow, push, they're doing, so I had and, and but chicken, friends, nice seam normally, when they do things that they said, you single camera shoots, right? So, let us shoot one character. They will do their whole scene though. She's the other character, they will do their whole scene but the speed of that push, if you're watching it, starts us, super wide, slowly. Slowly comes in its like two minutes that they're Crossing this period of time, and they were able to their scripting had to be like even their sort of their monologues that there are there lines had to be to the same length to make those. Two different pieces align really well. So those are bouncing back at the proportions of the same that entire time. So that's actually a really brilliant scene and how they pulled that off to make it look as seamless as it did between the two characters. So it makes you wonder whether they shot them both at the same time as two cameras and that scene and it's probably unlikely. I mean it would probably be pretty hard to light a room that small and dude. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean it's possible that shows he was or something. If it wasn't key so it could have been someone else reading the other side, so they could. Yeah, yeah. I would assume like you film it like you film shortly. Then they will go to the wide shot and the gold. They might add a wide shot camera just to know, not even, it's usually single camera. So that's a very impressive scene that really pulled in the emotion of what they were doing to execute that, and I am just love it. Which look, I mean, takes you back to Letterkenny, there's this scene of them in the back porch, with their head if their faces being blocked scenes around the produce stand, I mean, you know, it's going to be, you know, classic Letterkenny coming up for season 12, and we haven't even seen living yet. So looking forward to 11 and 12 coming up. And I mean this isn't news because nothing's beneficial or confirm, but if you listen to Terry Ryan's podcast, Today, I was listening to the latest episode, and he kind of let it out that he's looking forward to coming back to Ontario, to shoot shorter Z. So and it he made it kind of sound like it was going to happen this year. So I get we keep going on that lease agreement that they come up with the arena, right? That to me, I know they haven't released anything official but there's not enough. I mean, they do hockey stuff and Letterkenny, but that has become more of a backseat To see ya but it's shortly. So it's also a completely different Arena to where they do Maki. Yeah. But I think the other counties that the read the arena they're leasing their using more than a production stage than then the hockey arena. I think I used access to and like that's purposeful you can rent a warehouse and called a production City, but you're going out of your way to rent a production space that S as an arena. There's really there's reason behind that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I mean, again, short of an actual official announcement. It feels like they, you know, and no one here is going to be surprised when we hear that Jersey got picked up. I mean, we know, Letterkenny is craves Flagship show if they're continuing, Letterkenny Shores these first season. As far as I could tell, was, didn't they say? It was their most viewed debut or something, for one of their shows. So, I mean, unless some like huge political like, It happens, it's going to happen, right? So yeah makes sense because that great show exactly and can't wait for more. So there's that there's so that's the news I have for today.
