Welcome back to the produce. Dan Casey, thank you. I say back because you have now hosted a few of your own. You are my joy, the Joan Rivers to my Johnny Carson, but this is your first solo Episode with us. So this is exciting, the best things come to those who wait. So because it's your first solo episode when I asked you the standard questions. First of all, where we speak to you, from Shenandoah Valley, Harrisonburg Virginia, Nice USA. It sounds very pretty. What, how do you say this should know notion? You do Valley, easy. Oh, Shenandoah Valley, Shenandoah Valley. The easy for you to say, okay, that is song. Oh, Shenandoah, I long to hear you away. You roll River. That's not what I was thinking about. That sounds nice too. I want to ask the question right off the top. Does every US State have a song like at like they're all like own like not State maybe but anthem for is like, yeah, it seems like everyone we talked. There's like a song about that area. I was thinking about this very thing today as I was listening to UK radio when they were playing God Save the Queen, right? And I am sitting over here going, Let Freedom Ring and then I am going that's really interesting that song now and this context and all colonialism, Hmm, so well like to sing. Yeah, American but are there stayed anthems there must be surprisingly, don't think I am qualified to answer that question? I know that a lot of us have assigned sort of songs to our region, you know, adopted folks, who write the songs like anything that Bruce Springsteen sings is a state song of New Jersey for a certain generation right now, their generation. It's Frank Sinatra. Yeah. But those are like popular songs that just mentioned the state but I mean, you know how like there's enough. National anthem writing, but they're known like I don't think their provincial anthems either believe. So now I think we have adopted an Ontario tourism board song as our Anthem Aaron saying yes, there are State Anthems, okay? Kind of messed up and no one has ever heard of them. Okay, there you go. I can't wait to hear more about that in the after party. Aaron. Yeah, we're going to talk about them. All right. Casey where and how did you discover the show? Letterkenny it was A mental Wellness. Monday check. Well, no, that's why I got into the DM group. Yeah, no, I don't know when I started Letterkenny answers in December of 2020. I was just sort of, you know, trying to carve out, meaning in the year, right? Like that was a really rough year. Sure. 2020. Yeah. Say about that. And, so I was trying to do something fun for myself and I just started Following a bunch of Letterkenny accounts, I followed you guys. Followed Dean and tiara. Followed everybody on the cast. I just let her cutting memes. Awesome, just everybody. Okay? So you guys were in there and then there was one mental illness Monday, where you had said, you know, how are you now? And I was like me and then you DM me and you were like, you should join the if you need a pick-me-up. Yeah, you sounded very low that day, and I am like, no, we can't have that, not only, I mean, you're Her moniker on Twitter is Letterkenny answers. And, you know, we need to stick together and help each other out. So when I heard that you weren't having a good day, I am like, well, I know just the thing to inundate you with nonsensical crap on a DM group and, and Surround you with people just as crazy. And kooky as you are, it was fabulous. And I think that was February of this year. I remember when you join it was like you came here like holy s***, this is going on and you were right at home. I remember my first egg Hall, I had crushes on all of you. I was in love with every single one of you all. At the same time, it's funny like you 45 and the DMD, like everyone. I was just like these people, these are my people. So that just goes to show anyone who's listening right now and keeps on hearing about the DM group and all the fun we have in the After parties. So we're limited to how many people who can add to the DM group but you can, anyone can join the after party. I started episode 0. So dear. We're home sick today and Yeah I heard some stuff I want to talk about it. Matt I just like how full of yourselves you all are you're all very like no I don't know if the show is going to be great and here's Al going. Yeah, no. Okay. I am just bringing everybody in. Like I can hear the knowing in your voice. I will like that. They will fall like a house of cards. They will, they had no idea what they were in for but I and really in my own mind. I was just like, if everything works out the way, I think it might work out. We're going to have a lot of fun but yeah there's no explaining it to them, I just had to show them. Yeah. Well in really where we were we going? Like well we were you supposed to like there was nothing else to do. There are some weas we thought Danny was under duress for quite some time. Yeah, they were very God. Now tells ya know that was dark for a second was dark, Forest, blink, if everything is okay. Like, wow, that s*** started from day one. To make sure and then the pre-show you were telling me how you're laughing, because tenure and the beginning, and I remember this and I reminded her a few times when I brought up the idea of maybe a going to Sudbury one day for fun and her going like hell were gonna do that, or we're not going to ever go to go Sudbury. And now she's on his pushing me that we need to go to Sudbury. So like s***. Or get off the pot. I can't ever see that happening. Yeah, just ridiculous. You were just so adamant about know. That is a hard No, yeah. Anyway thank you for joining us and I can't wait to get this one started because it's going to be a lot of fun. So let us get it started. How are, you know? Tonight's lineup is Matt, Tanya Al Victor and our guests. Casey will have the last word, man. How was your week? My week was excellent. I was, I was on vacation last week which is always fun. And by vacation, I didn't really go at leave. The province. That was it in Provence vacation. Provinces are the places that are Canada's split into To it's our state's see Casey rolling her eyes at American, but it was great. We had all the kids, and we went to Niagara Falls for a couple nights and did a water fire to the water park and arcades and all that s***. And then went back to a Sega for a night and get a party island squeezer. I actually saw a party island. I didn't look very welcoming though, so I steered. Clear any juices flowing? Water like that. I can't confirm that one. It's the water gets kind of musty sometimes, but it was fun. And then, I know I tweet about this, but I had one of the most fun little activities I have ever done. Was so, the story was last Friday, when up to calling, was all my in-laws and stuff are out there. We get invited up to a barbecue at my sister-in-law's place and, you know, and I am not even mad that it went down this because it turned out fantastic. But she goes, yeah, come to a barbecue. You there was like she invited some friends and family, they all in. There was like, 15, 20 buys, and we get there, and we're kind of approaching the time to start cooking, but we know where adults were going to eat a little bit late. So we got to get the kids eating, and we're getting a fire going because they lived kind of on this country property. And then as I am going to fire going all of a sudden someone realizes, there's no f****** propane. Oh no. So we get invited to a barbecue but no one thought to check if there was for pain. In the barbecue. So one thing led to another, and I am like f*** it I will figure this out, so I without me and it's other guy started filling up the fire. We got a hot enough I built a whole little space to do live fire cooking, and I was right into it. Like it's almost like it's constant. It's patience, patience and constant attention. But it was almost therapeutic. It was, I was like going on, and they're like mad. They finally someone who went off to town and got propane and came back. Like we can use the barbecue now. I am like no, no pre. Keep bringing me. The food I got this. So about time I was all said and done. I did like 20 shrimp. Skewers I even did garlic bread added corn, on the cob and steak and a couple of hot dogs. Hamburgers all on live fire and tasted so much better, didn't, it was so good. Oh my God. I am like I am doing this at home. I am like I need to be cooking over a fire. Like the OG styles were often because this was my favorite thing, and I was laughing. I said to genom, like this might have been the most fun. I have had all summer. She was almost insulted. She's like after all the things we have done cooking over the fire was the most fun. I am like, well, you know what I mean? Is it was a moment, and I was in my realm and but if you have never done it, it's a real experience. Give it a try. It's all playing with hot coals and get a set up. Your space. I was so particular about how I did it, but I saved the barbecue. And it was, it was real highlights. Yeah, that was fun. Awesome, set of states. The obvious coals are better than propane. Pain for sure. They are. Yeah, yeah, it was, there's definitely a learning curve to it like, even as I was going through it involves even the little space. I create, I was moving rocks around, placing grills on top, holding things down shoveling in and out Cole's. I am like, all right, I am figuring this thing and just stand over it. Like what's his name in that movie? Say fire. I made fire a Tom Hanks in Castaway lied. I am pretty sure I did at one point. I am sure you did. Did you send the kids for firewood? That's like that's a Thing in itself. Go find sticks. Yeah it was great. So highly recommend yeah over open fire if you get a chance or haven't done it. It's an experience and I will be cooking like that again for sure. Excellent. So the next installment in the backyard is a fighter pay. Well I barely you can do that in the city as long as you're cooking. Yes. Yes. Yes. The rule I hear that's have a grill nearby. Yeah, so that's why people get around it. They build the fire pit and make sure there's a grill. Nearby. Still, in some of the you still need a permit. You still need to buy and pay for a fire permit. I am in a nice, I am an odd. The isolated spot in the city that I could do that. And no one's going to unless my neighbor's a dick that day. No one's ever going to find out that it's happening. So I don't give an f***. All right. Tell you how was your week? Oh my gosh. So busy kids are back to school this week that's started up before they headed back. It was just Get the last of the things that they needed. So yeah, both kids are in, that's gone. Well, so far, yeah, it's just been running around keeping up with them and trying to get the list of school supplies that the teachers demanded and yeah, just doing. Oh, and I have got, I have got an interview lined up for next Friday. So fingers crossed everyone. Everyone's thoughts and prayers. Yeah. So hopefully that becomes there's a reference to tell me, you know, me and it will work. Yeah. It's I don't know how in that Spanish-speaking said. It wouldn't work at all right, I am gonna say I know Casey I am gonna let me not know, I mean nothing against but really is your hat. Is that lava on your hat? Is that a deserve that? It's just food on. Take a picture of it made a hat. It already after he cooked it. He wiped, I am in it to win. It guys, is that everything? Oh, I was asked out on a date, but that will be for next week. Oh, no, it's not. It's a day after tomorrow. Stay after date. We're going to at if we're going to a movie at Toronto, International Film Festival. Yeah. Is it like a switch hitter? No, tenían. I am taking my wife to a film fest. That was not clear. That was not. Clear. I have been going on a date, dude, I am not judge. So, looking forward to it? I have never been no. Swingers was a very good movie. It's true. What you guys do, as a couple looking forward to it, haven't been to Tiff before. So, I mean, I used to work in a building that overlooked if for many years, but never actually got to go down and enjoy it. So now we're going to the movies called What's Love Got to Do with it. It is not as much as far as I know. A Tina Turner biopic, it's about arranged marriages, and stuff like that, so it looks and it's a comedy rope, maybe romantic, comedy, or something. So is, it looks interesting, so, we will see, but just to go, you know, dress up, go to maybe Bell lightbox or rights, or I forget where the movie is playing, but it will be just fun to kind of walk around on, going on King Street there because Tiff is quite the atmosphere. If anyone's ever been it's pretty cool is that My dad says I am looking up. It's got Emma, Thompson, and Lily James, now movies? Yeah. Is this the Premier? Well, it's there's a showing Film Festival showing their Toronto Film Festival is showing. So they probably been to can. They probably been to some others? Yeah so looking forward to that second base in the theater. Maybe I am not seven Thompson. No. Okay, his wife can improve on. So With my husband speaking. Speaking of movies, and it's been two weeks since we have spoken. Because last week, we were in here, the Takeover team took over and great job by the way, Casey. I hope you and the team, you did an amazing job. So hopefully you can talk more about that when it's your turn. But the reason we couldn't record last week was because I was, at Toronto, Mike listener, experience is 10th anniversary. It was a get-together at the Great Lakes beer. Is amazing. There's like over 100 people there. I got to see Miriam and Gordon person. We took selfies, we had a good time. We drank beer, we ate pasta. We met some b-list Toronto famous people. Which no one watching or listening to this will know who they are, but still a lot of fun and just a lot of fun. They had to get together in person. So apologies that I couldn't be here last week but the podcast was in great hands. Victor. How's your Yeah, it's been a busy week. Just some final week before I have to go to Vegas next week and then I am off for a couple weeks so it's just really been busy, but it's also the greatest time of the year. As Tonya mentioned you know my daughter is already out of the house but my son, we moved into the dorm, and he's now had his, I guess first full week of school, he hasn't come back yet, so he hasn't found out yet so that's a good thing. Where's it going? He's going to Humber College for sports management. All right, right one. Yeah. So yeah. So he's out. Of course, he stepped us with his pet gerbil. So if anybody's looking for, you know, for a pet gerbil, we have got one, we can't really care for her because my wife and I are working full-time. So and she needs LeBron is her name. So she needs the attention. And Ron the gerbil LeBron. Yeah, she's really great. It's too bad, right? We're gonna have to give her up to the Humane Society. If we can't find a ho, no, well, because pumpkins Always by our side, and we don't want to, she's basically a mouse, right? I mean, so I hold on, dude. No offense to gerbils, but to the Humane Society even take dripping. Everything take everybody, don't take a goldfish. So anyway, so we will have to do that. But we just wanted to kind of give it a few more days and see if there's an if there's anyone interested. Matt. Yeah. Toby has weight would be herbal in the livestream, gerbil, in the livestream, Toby had a great suggestion. He says he thinks you should send LeBron to South Beach. Just mail them that mail her down there and somebody will take is the care taking of the gerbil a temporary. No, we're not taking a gerbil, don't even think about it. No, now this is a forever you but you make a commit Does it have a cage and stuff has it? Not only does it happen. Not only does it have an aquarium or whatever you would call that thing. But we invested in a penthouse. Oh, I have seen this aquarium. So she can go kind of being her thing or go up in the penthouse and just chill out. Like she has a great dwelling, and she comes with everything you need, and she's just the most adorable little thing. Don't know how old she is, so they live anywhere from. I think they live for I think two to four years or something like that, so I don't know how old she is, but she's in great shape. She's very energetic, she's name again LeBron do you play with a gerbil or you don't watch you don't care like we don't take her out, but we spend time with her, and we talked to her, and we sing to her, and we give her treats, and she's just really, really sweet. She's very energetic, she loves the wheel. All right, I think you sold me. On it Vicki. Can you stop talking now? Yeah, make the last 45 seconds into a commercial. I am just, I am just saying that could be the new diabolical coffee. Add somehow, I don't know. We will have to figure it out. Run it until the hamster. Chirping. What is it? It's a Mongolian gerbils. Oh, gets adopted. I gotta look up with aliens. Yeah, yeah, she's exotic, and she's the most sweet thing you will ever see in your life. Hold on. Adding that as My skirt. It's a Mongolian. Does she bite? No, she doesn't bite. I mean the only time you're sticking your hand in yours because you want to give her a treat, right, right? So she will go for the treat, not for your hand but her name's LeBron. So she does flop every once in a while anyway. Yeah. Now and as I say it is went offline. Victor I may have acquired s. Yeah for sure and the thing is she's so cute that's not heard that's just an example of a so that's profiling and profound Wrong. Yeah. In gerbil and found this looks like a mouse come on that's not a mouse. Just Google the Mongolian gerbil named LeBron prairie, dog. All right, let us move on. Let us move on. I don't think if you don't know what to do with your toilet paper rolls. When you're done with your toilet paper, just give it to her? And just an active problem here. Yeah. She just give it to her she will devour it that's her favorite. Toy is a toilet paper roll. So she's low maintenance, and she's just she gives more than she takes well-well work for toilet paper. All right. Okay again, you're right. Um, that's great. I am getting notes. My week was good. I did the Takeover show was a lot of fun. I was really tired. The kids were with me this weekend. We went for one last swim in my mom's pool. That was amazing. Got a little sunburned. Nice first week of September sunburn is my favorite guess is a great. Yeah real nice. And then you know work Has been good. We're just chugging along. I feel every day. I feel really privileged and fortunate and dare. I say blessed. Not to get a little creepy to, like, do what I do. And it, you know, as a single mom, it's really important to be able to do what I do and not have it feels stressful and get paid enough to do it, you know, got a raise just in time to not drown under and Inflation and a global pandemic. Some really things are really good for me, and I am really thankful for it. I don't think I have ever been more grateful. Well you know it all started when you joined the damn group so there you go pretty much. Yeah I mean it you know therapy was a month before joining your group so maybe it was that maybe is the professional help. Yeah, I don't know yet to be determined. I am just checking to see if my cats trying to kill me. This is going on YouTube probably right? Anyway, Yeah. And so this week has been a little more difficult like a little more heavy, were a couple days away from the full moon. Sorry, that creeps anybody out, but I am into stuff like that. And yeah, I am just so, the boys were home sick today. Sick now we're in this pandemic toshish, I don't know anymore. Yeah, right. Like whom does? Yeah. And they have been relatively healthy. They I have been around a mom who got covid and a stepbrother who got covid all week, and they have not gotten covid, but they have gotten like little colds, maybe there're allergies, so we're always on the, it's this weird. Yes, to be because we're always on the cusp of, is that allergies, is it a cold or the seven days away from Death? Yeah, like yeah. What? So, they woke up. Not feeling great. They slept really late. And I am the type of mom. And I am fortunate to be at a place with working with People who are able to allow me to say my kids, don't feel good this morning, they're moving slow, stay home, work from home, take a day, it's fine. Yeah. So that's what we did today and there was chicken soup and Star Wars episode one and two big sign. And there was a texted, the was Bend, and I was like, listen, I am doing episode 1 and 2 today, you're welcome. Yeah, it gets to do the fun ones. Yeah 6. Thank you very much. Thanks a lot. I will bite the bullet. So we knock the cast you out today was like 12 more after that. I hear ya, real road ahead of, you know, we're but those are the ones with Jar, Jar, Binks right? But we're also, we're Doing them chronologically. We're just okay, Mom and Dad order. So we watched four, five, six and everything. One, two, three. And the seven, eight, nine. And then there's like a whole bunch of other ones and then there's like, seven shows. So you got a road ahead of you, it's what I am saying? I know, but we have plenty of years there. Only 10 and 6. I am just getting you a gum psyche. You up pace yourself working. You don't feel like psyched up. This is feeling exhausted. Episodes of Jar, Jar, Binks and freaking Anakin Skywalker. And I love it because it's it moves the scene along. It gets great reactions from key so and dairy and Dan, it's just a great, it's just a great scene embodies Letterkenny, it's a lot of great writing in it. What I appreciated going through all these clips that you sent me is Gail doesn't even start out that outrageous. She gets more and more heightened as the series goes on. Like and now in there she's actually quite still. Like she doesn't have that wiggle that she that's slow-motion wiggle that she adopted. Later on in Seasons like in that first are grinding. That's what is it? Yeah, she's grinding up on the air, and we see a bit of it though, in fart book, which is oh yes, you're right, we do. Yeah. Which is before this episode, you're right? There's a bit of inconsistency in that character in season 1, I feel like, I feel like in later seasons are like I think and lit in later seasons are like Gail will really liked what you didn't fart. So it's a, it's expected to be over the top, and she's no exception, but she's just a little Much at times but I love it. And I think Victor you're at a point where you're just desensitized to it. I don't know if Letterkenny, I will ever get there, I think. Letterkenny, they're going to stick to kind of it being more of a sketch show. But no, yeah, stories along the way that they believe they have 42. It's an extent for some, some of the characters. So I agree with you, I prefer it when they do, but at the same time you know, they got to stick to it, true to the I don't want to say formula but you know when you study I think we all were very critical in what seasons. Exactly 78 or so stories with the stories they tried it. When they tried to embed a story, it didn't really hit home with us like there were elements of it. I loved, but there were parts that were like, hey, this is weird. This is out of format. We yeah, used to the sketch thing. The store in the story wasn't Landing well with us which was so surprised when that Marie Fred stuff and part of it. Yeah it was all over his memory, spread the egg call kind of weird. And yeah this there's some Yeah, yeah. Well, we have got I am so jealous. You have so many episodes to listen to now I mean I would sketch comedy and that's why sirs-e works is because they're not trying to do that. It's just a, it's just a show and it's not, they're not trying to run with three, separate storylines or right? And, you know, and come back with punchlines. It's really just It's a 30 or 22-minute story without a good point, filler, without filler scenes without commercials or whatever. And I think that's why it works. And if they try to do that with Letterkenny, I am not against it, but they need to either be all in not happen and that's, I think that's why they don't work. Yeah, that's a good point. Kind of like there is stuck between formats. Like they were trying something new but heading abandon ship on the old one, and they found themselves in a weird spot there, but I think it's less like Shores. He and more like International women's day. Like I feel like International women's day as an episode in bodied like the banter of the entire series, while focusing on all the women while also bringing in that element of shore Z, right? Because like we see Jared with his fists, like I just think about his fist in that scene when he's talking about Katie, right? And it's funny and it was holding it. He's trying to hold back the, the emotion. Yeah, and the hug. So it's it doesn't have to go Shore Z level, but it's there. I feel ya to maybe double down. Well, I mean, and I think those that middle part where we kind of, but then they got stronger again in the later Seasons. I think we all loved was it season 10 the last season? I have always so good. As an actor, as that actress to bring that kind of energy and to throw it all out there and to have that kind of tight like again as she uses everything her eyes, her mouth, her body. Round how I think, in some ways, the Gail character is very much like a Shore zoo in what you just described their how you came in highly offended. Yeah, didn't know much about it was, where was I? But as you as they open up and expand the thinking of the realm around the character, like, there's much more to her than just, yeah, that anything. So stores, the exact same way. We only knew the one dimension. When they opened it up and expanded his character, suddenly, you even episode and okay, they're coming towards you again. By the end of it, you're like, all right, even with classical even layers, layers there, that they're just developing and the flavor grows. So it's, yeah, Casey's dancing to something.
